حقق فياريال الإسباني تعادلاً قاتلاً أمام ضيفه يوفينتوس الإيطالي في اللقاء الذي انتهى بهدفين لكل منهما في الجولة الثانية من دوري أبطال أوروبا.

شهد اللقاء تقدم فريق فياريال أولاً عن طريق جورج ميكوتادزي الذي استغل تمريرة نيكولاس بيبي ليغمزها ميكوتادزي في الزاوية البعيدة عن الحارس ماتيا بيرين هدفاً أول لفياريال (د:18). وفي الشوط الثاني، انتفض يوفينتوس وأدرك فيديريكو جاتي التعادل بتسديدة مقصية رائعة (د:49)، واستغل فرانسيسكو كونسيساو هفوة قائد فياريال دانيال باريخو عندما مرر كرة قصيرة لزميله ريناتو فيجا، لكن فرانسيسكو تمكن من خطف الكرة من منتصف ملعب فياريال وتلاعب بالمدافع رافا مارين ليسدد كرة قوية لتسكن الشباك هدفاً ثانياً ليوفينتوس (د:56)، لكن فياريال رفض الاستسلام، وارتقى ريناتو فيجا عالياً ليحول ركلة ركنية برأسه في المرمى من مسافة قريبة (د:90)، لينتهي اللقاء بالتعادل بهدفين لكل منهما.
وبهذه النتيجة يحقق يوفينتوس تعادله الثاني بعد أن تعادل في الجولة الأولى مع دورتموند الألماني بأربعة أهداف لكل منهما، فيما حقق فياريال النقطة الأولى بعد أن خسر من توتنهام الإنجليزي بهدف دون مقابل.

In the second half, Juventus rallied and Federico Gatti equalized with a stunning bicycle kick (49th minute), while Francisco Conceição took advantage of a mistake by Villarreal captain Dani Parejo when he passed a short ball to his teammate Renato Veiga.
