قرر الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم UEFA إيقاف لاعب نادي أتلتيك بيلباو الإسباني، ييراي ألفاريز، لمدة 10 أشهر بعد فشله في اجتياز فحص للمنشطات، الذي خضع له بعد الخسارة 0 - 3 أمام مانشستر يونايتد في ذهاب نصف نهائي الدوري الأوروبي مايو الماضي.
وقال نادي أتلتيك بيلباو (الاثنين): «في حكمه، أقر الاتحاد الأوروبي بعدم وجود أي نية من جانب اللاعب، معتبراً أنه ثبت أن تناول المادة المحظورة كان بسبب الاستخدام غير الصحيح لدواء وقائي لتساقط الشعر كان يخص شريكته، ويحتوي على المادة المذكورة».
وأضاف: «وأشار الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى أنه وفقاً للوائح الحالية، فإن الرياضيين مسؤولون عن سلوكهم، وبالتالي كان يتعين على اللاعب التأكد من أن الدواء مسموح به قبل تناوله».
وتعود هذه العقوبة إلى الثاني من شهر يونيو الماضي؛ ولذا سيكون بإمكان ييراي ألفاريز العودة للمستطيل الأخضر في 2 أبريل القادم من العام 2026.

The UEFA European Football Association decided to suspend Athletic Bilbao player Yeray Alvarez for 10 months after he failed a doping test, which he underwent following the 0 - 3 loss to Manchester United in the first leg of the Europa League semi-finals last May.
Athletic Bilbao stated (on Monday): "In its ruling, UEFA acknowledged that there was no intention on the part of the player, considering that it was proven that the consumption of the banned substance was due to the improper use of a preventive medication for hair loss that belonged to his partner, which contained the mentioned substance."
It added: "UEFA indicated that according to current regulations, athletes are responsible for their actions, and therefore the player should have ensured that the medication was permitted before taking it."
This penalty dates back to June 2 of last year; therefore, Yeray Alvarez will be able to return to the pitch on April 2, 2026.
