أعلن سفين أولريتش، حارس مرمى فريق بايرن ميونخ الألماني، وفاة نجله «لين» عن عمر 6 سنوات.
وفي بيان نشره أولريتش مع زوجته ليزا عبر حساباتهما على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، قالا: «ببالغ الحزن والأسى، نود أن نعلن اليوم أن ابننا لين قد توفي منذ بضعة أسابيع بعد معاناة طويلة من مرض شديد».

وأضاف البيان: «كان اتخاذ قرار نشر هذا الخبر علناً أمراً في غاية الصعوبة، ولكنه خطوة مهمة بالنسبة لنا كعائلة من أجل توضيح الوضع في محيطنا وأمام العامة، مع ابنتنا، نسعى الآن للعودة تدريجياً إلى الحياة، خطوة بخطوة».
وتابع: «نود أن نعبر عن شكرنا الخاص لعائلاتنا وأصدقائنا، ولنادي بايرن ميونخ على ما قدموه من خصوصية ودعم كبيرين في الأشهر الماضية. هذا الدعم يعني لنا الكثير».
وختم البيان قائلاً: «نرجو من الجمهور ووسائل الإعلام احترام خصوصيتنا، والامتناع عن طرح أي استفسارات إضافية».

ولم يكشف أولريتش عن طبيعة المرض الذي كان يعاني منه لين، لكن هذا المرض كان السبب وراء غياب حارس مرمى بايرن ميونخ المتكرر عن المباريات في الموسم الماضي.
وبسبب مرض ابنه، كان أولريتش قد فكر أخيراً في إنهاء مسيرته الكروية، لكن بعد وفاته تراجع عن هذا القرار، وقبل أيام قليلة، جدد عقده مع بايرن ميونخ لمدة عام، في خطوة نحو تجاوز هذه المحنة الصعبة.

In a statement published by Ulreich and his wife Lisa on their social media accounts, they said: "With great sadness and sorrow, we would like to announce today that our son Lin passed away a few weeks ago after a long struggle with a severe illness."

The statement added: "Making the decision to share this news publicly was extremely difficult, but it is an important step for us as a family to clarify the situation in our surroundings and before the public. With our daughter, we are now striving to gradually return to life, step by step."
He continued: "We would like to express our special thanks to our families and friends, and to Bayern Munich for the privacy and great support they have provided in the past months. This support means a lot to us."
The statement concluded: "We ask the public and the media to respect our privacy and refrain from asking any further questions."

Ulreich did not disclose the nature of the illness that Lin was suffering from, but this illness was the reason behind the goalkeeper's repeated absences from matches last season.
Due to his son's illness, Ulreich had recently considered ending his football career, but after Lin's death, he retracted this decision, and just a few days ago, he renewed his contract with Bayern Munich for another year, as a step towards overcoming this difficult ordeal.
