دوّنت البولندية إيغا شفيونتيك اسمها في سجلات تاريخ التنس، بعدما تُوجت بلقب بطولة ويمبلدون للتنس لأول مرة في مسيرتها، عقب فوزها الساحق على الأمريكية أماندا أنيسيموفا بنتيجة 6-0 و6-0، خلال 57 دقيقة فقط، في نهائي من طرف واحد.
ويُعد هذا اللقب هو السادس لشفيونتيك في بطولات الجراند سلام، وجاء بأداء مذهل، حيث فازت بـ55 نقطة من أصل 79، معتمدة على 10 ضربات قاضية فقط، فيما ارتكبت أنيسيموفا 28 خطأ غير مقصود، ما سهل المهمة أمام المصنفة الأولى عالمياً.
النتيجة التاريخية (6-0 و6-0) تُعد نادرة في نهائي السيدات ببطولة ويمبلدون، ولم تحدث منذ عام 1911، عندما تغلبت دوروثيا لامبرت تشامبرز على دورا بوثبي بالنتيجة نفسها.
إلى جانب التتويج، سجلت شفيونتيك إنجازاً بارزاً آخر، إذ حققت فوزها رقم 100 في بطولات التنس الكبرى (الجراند سلام) من أصل 120 مباراة فقط، لتصبح أسرع لاعبة تصل إلى هذا الرقم منذ الأسطورة سيرينا ويليامز، التي حققته خلال 116 مباراة في بطولة أمريكا المفتوحة عام 2004.
The Polish player Iga Swiatek etched her name in the history of tennis after winning the Wimbledon title for the first time in her career, following her crushing victory over American Amanda Anisimova with a score of 6-0 and 6-0, in just 57 minutes, in a one-sided final.
This title is Swiatek's sixth in Grand Slam tournaments, and it came with an impressive performance, as she won 55 points out of 79, relying on just 10 aces, while Anisimova committed 28 unforced errors, making it easier for the world number one.
The historic scoreline (6-0 and 6-0) is rare in women's finals at Wimbledon and has not occurred since 1911, when Dorothea Lambert Chambers defeated Dora Boothby with the same score.
In addition to the championship, Swiatek achieved another remarkable milestone, as she recorded her 100th win in Grand Slam tournaments out of only 120 matches, becoming the fastest player to reach this number since the legend Serena Williams, who achieved it in 116 matches at the US Open in 2004.
