The English club Liverpool announced its signing of the German international playmaker Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, under a contract that extends until the summer of 2030.

The club clarified, through an official statement, that it had completed its agreement with Leverkusen for the player's transfer, making Wirtz, who is 22 years old, the third signing for the "Reds" during the current summer transfer window, after acquiring Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong, also from Leverkusen, and Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Vejin.

Wirtz had notably excelled with his previous team over five seasons, significantly contributing to Leverkusen's first-ever Bundesliga title during the 2023-2024 season.

During the last season (2024-2025), Wirtz participated in 45 matches across various competitions, scoring 16 goals and providing 15 assists.
