أكد مدرب منتخب مصر الثاني حلمي طولان أنه سيواصل مشواره التدريبي بعد انتهاء بطولة كأس العرب 2025 التي أقيمت في قطر وتُوج بها المنتخب المغربي، نافياً شائعة الاعتزال.
وجاءت مشاركة حلمي طولان بعد اعتذار مدرب منتخب مصر الأول حسام حسن عن خوض البطولة لانشغاله بالتحضير لكأس الأمم الأفريقية، ليُسند الاتحاد المصري مهمة القيادة الفنية إلى طولان مع الاعتماد على لاعبي الصف الثاني.
وداع مبكر
وودّع المنتخب المصري البطولة مبكراً بعد أداء باهت، إذ تعادل بصعوبة مع منتخبي الكويت والإمارات بنتيجة (1-1)، قبل أن يتلقى خسارة ثقيلة أمام الأردن بثلاثة أهداف دون رد في الجولة الثالثة، ما فتح الباب أمام شائعات اعتزال طولان التدريب نهائياً.
طولان ينفي شائعة الاعتزال
وقال طولان في تصريحات خاصة إلى «عكاظ»: «اعتزالي التدريب شائعة لا أساس لها من الصحة، سأستمر في العمل التدريبي إذا تلقيت عروضاً مناسبة، ولا توجد أي مشكلة، لكن في الوقت الحالي لا توجد عروض».
وأضاف: «أنا مستمر في عملي باللجنة الفنية باتحاد الكرة، توليت تدريب منتخب مصر في كأس العرب كمهمة مؤقتة وانتهت، وعدت بعدها مباشرة إلى عملي داخل الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم».
ملف المدير الفني الجديد لم يُفتح
وعن عدم تجديد عقد علاء نبيل، المدير الفني للاتحاد المصري، المرشح الأقرب لخلافته، أوضح طولان: «لم نعقد أي اجتماعات حتى الآن لمناقشة ملف المدير الفني الجديد للاتحاد، ولم يتم التطرق لمسألة جنسيته، سواء كان مصرياً أو أجنبياً».
دعم كامل للمنتخب الأول
وفي ختام تصريحاته، أكد طولان دعمه الكامل للمنتخب المصري في بطولة كأس الأمم الأفريقية 2025، قائلاً: «إن منتخب مصر يظل مرشحاً قوياً للتتويج باللقب، بغض النظر عن أزمته الشخصية مع المدرب حسام حسن».
Egypt's second national team coach, Helmy Tolan, confirmed that he will continue his coaching career after the conclusion of the 2025 Arab Cup held in Qatar, where the Moroccan national team was crowned champion, denying retirement rumors.
Tolan's participation came after the first national team coach, Hossam Hassan, declined to participate in the tournament due to his focus on preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations, leading the Egyptian Football Association to assign the coaching role to Tolan while relying on second-string players.
Early Exit
The Egyptian national team exited the tournament early after a lackluster performance, managing a difficult draw with Kuwait and the UAE with a score of (1-1), before suffering a heavy loss to Jordan by three goals to none in the third round, which opened the door to retirement rumors surrounding Tolan.
Tolan Denies Retirement Rumors
Tolan stated in exclusive remarks to “Okaz”: “The rumor of my retirement from coaching is baseless; I will continue to work in coaching if I receive suitable offers, and there is no problem, but currently there are no offers.”
He added: “I am continuing my work in the technical committee of the Football Association; I took over coaching the Egyptian national team in the Arab Cup as a temporary assignment, which has now ended, and I returned immediately to my work within the Egyptian Football Association.”
The File for a New Head Coach Has Not Been Opened
Regarding the non-renewal of the contract for Alaa Nabil, the head coach of the Egyptian Football Association and the closest candidate to succeed him, Tolan clarified: “We have not held any meetings yet to discuss the file for a new head coach for the federation, and the issue of his nationality, whether Egyptian or foreign, has not been addressed.”
Full Support for the First Team
In conclusion, Tolan affirmed his full support for the Egyptian national team in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, stating: “The Egyptian national team remains a strong contender for the title, regardless of his personal issues with coach Hossam Hassan.”
