أعلن مدرب منتخب الأردن، المغربي جمال سلامي، أن العاهل الأردني الملك عبدالله الثاني ابن الحسين قرر منحه الجنسية الأردنية، تقديراً لما قدمه مع «النشامى».
وجاء ذلك عقب خسارة منتخب الأردن نهائي بطولة كأس العرب 2025 أمام نظيره المغربي بثلاثة أهداف مقابل هدفين، في المباراة المثيرة التي جمعتهما أمس (الخميس) على ملعب «لوسيل» في قطر.
وقال سلامي، خلال المؤتمر الصحفي عقب المباراة النهائية: «ولي العهد أخبرني أن الملك قرر منحي الجنسية الأردنية، وهذا شرف كبير لي».

المستقبل مع النشامى
وعن مستقبله مع المنتخب الأردني، أوضح سلامي: «بعد التأهل إلى كأس العالم 2026، تحدث معي رئيس الاتحاد الأمير علي، وطلب مني الاستمرار في قيادة المنتخب، وكان ردي أنني لم آتِ إلى الأردن من أجل إنجاز واحد فقط، بل جئت بمشروع متكامل، وعندما يتحقق سأطلب المغادرة».
مشاعر متضاربة
وعاش جمال سلامي ليلة صعبة في نهائي كأس العرب، إذ وجد نفسه بين واجبه المهني وعاطفته الوطنية، لكن نال احترام الجميع في النهاية بعدما قدّم مثالاً عالياً في الاحترافية.
The coach of the Jordan national team, Moroccan Jamal Salami, announced that the Jordanian monarch King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein has decided to grant him Jordanian citizenship, in appreciation of what he has contributed with the "Nashama."
This came after the Jordan national team lost the final of the Arab Cup 2025 to their Moroccan counterpart by three goals to two, in the thrilling match that took place yesterday (Thursday) at the "Lusail" stadium in Qatar.
Salami said during the press conference after the final match: "The Crown Prince told me that the King decided to grant me Jordanian citizenship, and this is a great honor for me."

The Future with the Nashama
Regarding his future with the Jordanian national team, Salami clarified: "After qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, the President of the Federation, Prince Ali, spoke to me and asked me to continue leading the team, and my response was that I did not come to Jordan for just one achievement, but I came with a comprehensive project, and when it is realized, I will request to leave."
Conflicting Emotions
Jamal Salami experienced a difficult night in the Arab Cup final, as he found himself torn between his professional duty and his national sentiment, but he earned everyone's respect in the end after demonstrating a high standard of professionalism.
