تُوفي محمد أبو النجا الشهير بـ«بونجا»، حارس مرمى وادي دجلة ومنتخب مصر للمحليين، بعد صراع مع المرض.
ونعى نادي وادي دجلة حارسه الراحل عبر صفحته الرسمية على موقع «فيسبوك» قائلاً: «ينعى رئيس وأعضاء مجلس إدارة نادي وادي دجلة ببالغ الحزن والأسى فقيدنا الغالي، حارس المرمى محمد أبو النجا «بونجا»، الذي وافته المنية في يوم حزين خيَّم على قلوبنا جميعاً، نسأل الله العلي القدير أن يتغمده بواسع رحمته، ويسكنه فسيح جناته، ويلهم أهله وذويه الصبر والسلوان».
كما نعى الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم وعدد من الأندية المصرية اللاعب الراحل، وعمّ الحزن جماهير الكرة عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي.
وكان أبو النجا قد نُقل إلى العناية المركزة بعد تدهور حالته الصحية، نتيجة مضاعفات في الجهاز الهضمي والكبد.
Mohamed Abu Al-Naja, famously known as "Bonga," the goalkeeper of Wadi Degla and the Egyptian national team for locals, passed away after a battle with illness.
The Wadi Degla Club mourned its late goalkeeper through its official page on Facebook, stating: "The President and members of the Board of Directors of Wadi Degla Club mourn with deep sadness and sorrow our dear departed, goalkeeper Mohamed Abu Al-Naja 'Bonga,' who passed away on a sad day that cast a shadow over all our hearts. We ask Allah, the Almighty, to envelop him in His vast mercy, grant him a place in His spacious gardens, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace."
The Egyptian Football Association and several Egyptian clubs also mourned the late player, and sadness spread among football fans on social media.
Abu Al-Naja had been transferred to intensive care after his health deteriorated due to complications in the digestive system and liver.
