تسبب التدافع الجماهيري الكبير في مواجهة الجولة الأخيرة من الدوري الجزائري الممتاز بين مولودية الجزائر ونجم مقرة، في إحداث كارثة حقيقية عقب سقوط السياج الحديدي الخاص بجماهير مولودية الجزائر التي كانت تحتفل بتتويج فريقها بلقب الدوري للموسم الثاني على التوالي والتاسع في تاريخه.
وأدى انهيار السياج الحديدي إلى سقوط الجماهير من الدور العلوي نحو الأسفل، ما تطلب تدخل فوري لإسعاف المصابين، وأصدرت وزارة الصحة الجزائرية تحديثاً مستمراً منذ ذلك الحين لعدد الوفيات والإصابات الذي وصل في آخر تحديث إلى 3 وفيات و81 إصابة.
وكان الاتحاد الجزائري لكرة القدم قد ألغى مراسم تتويج فريق مولودية الجزائر باللقب إثر الحادثة المأساوية.

The Algerian Ministry of Health has been issuing continuous updates since then regarding the number of fatalities and injuries, which reached 3 deaths and 81 injuries in the latest update.
The Algerian Football Federation had canceled the ceremony to crown CR Belouizdad with the title following the tragic incident.
