Diplomatic moves regarding the war with Iran continue amid anticipation of the next steps, while Tehran insists on keeping the door for negotiations open and intensifying its communications with mediators and regional officials to discuss proposals related to the U.S.-Iranian track.
The Iranian news agency "IRNA" reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented, during the Cabinet meeting today (Wednesday), a report on the latest diplomatic developments and consultations related to Iranian-American issues.
The agency added that the report addressed the issues discussed during the visit of the Qatari delegation and the Pakistani army chief to Iran, in addition to the consultations held by Iranian officials with high-ranking Saudi, Pakistani, and Turkish officials.
Araghchi stated: "We continue to give diplomacy a chance to succeed," adding that Tehran is in continuous contact with mediators to discuss ideas that would ensure the implementation of its seven-day plan in less than a week.
For his part, Iranian President Masoud Bezhakian stated that his country hopes to overcome the current difficult circumstances thanks to the efforts made and national cohesion.
The Iranian television quoted Bezhakian as saying, during a government meeting, that his government seeks to implement the Supreme Leader's directives and to overcome what he described as the "neither war nor peace" situation that the country is experiencing.
In contrast, the Israeli newspaper "Israel Hayom" quoted a diplomatic official as saying that military, intelligence, and diplomatic cooperation between the United States and Israel remains close at all levels.
The official added that any decision regarding the next steps will align precisely with the mutual interests of both sides, noting that if it is decided that striking Iran is necessary, planners will base this step on purely professional considerations.
Regarding the cost of the war, data from the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) submitted to Congress showed that the military has spent over $47 billion so far to manage the war in Iran, an increase of more than 25% compared to the department's estimates last July.
The latest estimate from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) indicated that the operational cost of the war included over $29 billion for replacing munitions consumed during the conflict.
Replacing military equipment, known as platform losses, requires more than $6 billion, including a significant number of lost aircraft, including large numbers of drones that were lost during the war.
The American newspaper "The Hill" reported that the estimates were released on October 16 and were presented to Congress.
The newspaper noted that the estimates included about $12 billion to cover additional costs of military operations and another $6.1 billion to compensate for lost equipment.
The costs of supporting deployed forces, including air transportation, base preparation, communication support, and logistics services in the theater of operations, reached $7.6 billion.
