A spokesperson for the Iranian government revealed today (Wednesday) that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed the Cabinet about receiving a U.S. proposal to reach an agreement to end the war.

The government spokesperson, Fatemeh Mohajerani, told the official news agency "IRNA" that "Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented the U.S. proposal to President Masoud Bezhkishan during the government meeting today." According to informed sources, the indirect negotiations have moved to the stage of discussing the implementation mechanism of the plan and providing guarantees, and the intermediaries have conveyed Washington's response to Minister Araghchi.

Sources mentioned that the seven-day plan recently proposed by Iran needs substantial modifications before discussing any progress, adding that the two main issues are the arrangement for implementing the agreements and which party will move first.

An official familiar with the talks told "Reuters" that Araghchi and his team met with Qatari intermediaries in Doha last night, receiving Washington's response to the seven-day proposal, which he will discuss in Tehran today. He clarified that the document currently being negotiated outlines a seven-day confidence-building plan and a return to an enhanced version of the memorandum of understanding signed by the U.S. and Iran in June.

For his part, Iranian President Masoud Bezhkishan stated: "We are seriously following our responsibility to maintain the security of regional waterways and ensure the safety of navigation," explaining that his country is responsible for the Strait of Hormuz, which is based on ensuring stability and the interests of the countries in the region.

He pointed out that there is a consensus in the Iranian National Security Council regarding the negotiations and the policies being pursued concerning the Islamabad memorandum of understanding, noting that they are making efforts to reach a conclusion regarding the Islamabad memorandum.

He emphasized the necessity for the agreement to be based on a win-win strategy, indicating that his government seeks to restore peace, security, and stability to society and the region, and to have a clear vision regarding the future and the continuation of the war and its repercussions.

At the same time, the British Maritime Trade Operations reported receiving a notification about an oil tanker being targeted by an unknown projectile while crossing Hormuz yesterday.

The "Axios" website reported from informed sources that there are warnings about the stagnation that could push both parties back to military escalation, indicating that U.S. President Donald Trump is considering the option of launching widespread military strikes against Iran after the midterm elections, a step that remains contingent on the results of those elections, while Trump believes that Iran may be close to surrender under the pressure of economic deterioration.

Sources noted that oil flows in the Middle East have returned to levels comparable to those before the war.
