لم تكن وفاة رب أسرة مسن داخل منزله حادثة عابرة، بل كانت الفصل الأخير في مأساة إنسانية مروعة صدمت محافظة المفرق شمال شرقي الأردن، وبدأت تفاصيلها تنكشف شيئاً فشيئاً خلف الجدران المغلقة.

في الوقت الذي ظن فيه البعض أن الجسد المنهك استسلم لسنوات المرض، جاء تقرير الفحص الطبي ليقلب مجرى الأحداث رأساً على عقب، إذ أثبتت نتائج الفحص وجود آثار ضرب واعتداء جنائي مباشر كانت السبب المباشر في الوفاة، لتبدأ الأجهزة الأمنية الأردنية تحقيقات مكثفة لكشف ملابسات الواقعة وتحديد هوية الجاني.
لكن ساعات قليلة من التحريات الأولية كانت كفيلة بفك غموض الحادثة، إذ قادت الخيوط الأمنية إلى الشبهة الرئيسية حول أحد أبناء الضحية. وتبين خلال التحقيقات أن الابن المشتبه به يعاني من مرض نفسي، ما أضفى بعداً درامياً مؤلماً على الجريمة التي تحولت من اعتداء جنائي إلى فاجعة أسرية أليمة.
وعلى الفور، ألقت الأجهزة الأمنية القبض على الابن المشتبه به وأحالته إلى الجهات القضائية المختصة. وقررت السلطات القضائية توقيفه في أحد مراكز الإصلاح والتأهيل على ذمة القضية، وتوجيه تهمة «القتل العمد» له، فيما تتواصل التحقيقات الاستكمالية للوقوف على التفاصيل الكاملة والدوافع التي سبقت هذه النهاية الحزينة.
