أدانت الأمانة العامة لجامعة الدول العربية بشدة إطلاق مليشيا الحوثي صواريخ باليستية باتجاه عدد من المدن والمناطق في السعودية، مؤكدة تضامنها الكامل مع المملكة ودعمها في حماية أمنها وسيادتها وسلامة أراضيها.
وأكدت الجامعة العربية أن تكرار الاعتداءات الحوثية على الأراضي السعودية يمثل تصعيداً بالغ الخطورة وتهديداً مباشراً لأمن المملكة واستقرارها، مشددة على دعمها لما تتخذه الرياض من إجراءات لحماية أمنها، وفقاً لميثاق الأمم المتحدة ومبادئ القانون الدولي.
وشددت الأمانة العامة لجامعة الدول العربية على أن استمرار هذا النهج التصعيدي لا يهدد أمن المملكة فحسب، بل يقوض فرص التوصل إلى حل سياسي للأزمة اليمنية، ويعرقل تهيئة الظروف اللازمة لاستئناف المسار السياسي.
وجددت الجامعة دعمها للجهود الإقليمية والدولية الرامية إلى التوصل إلى حل سياسي شامل للأزمة اليمنية، يستند إلى المرجعيات المتفق عليها وقرارات مجلس الأمن ذات الصلة، وفي مقدمتها القرار 2216، بما يحفظ وحدة اليمن وسيادته واستقلاله وسلامة أراضيه.
ويأتي الموقف العربي في أعقاب تصعيد حوثي متواصل خلال الأيام الأخيرة، إذ أعلن تحالف دعم الشرعية في اليمن، أمس اعتراض وتدمير ستة صواريخ باليستية أطلقتها المليشيا باتجاه المملكة، مؤكداً إحباط محاولة استهداف مدينتي الطائف وينبع.
وسبق ذلك بأيام، أعلنت قوات التحالف اعتراض صاروخ باليستي أطلق باتجاه الرياض، إلى جانب إحباط محاولات لاستهداف مناطق بيش والطائف وفرسان وينبع.
وتصاعدت الهجمات الحوثية على المملكة منذ منتصف سبتمبر، ففي 14 سبتمبر أعلنت قوات التحالف أن هجمات بصواريخ باليستية وطائرات مسيرة استهدفت أعياناً مدنية في خميس مشيط وأبها والطائف، وأسفرت عن إصابة 13 مدنياً وإلحاق أضرار بسبعة منازل ومركبتين.
ويأتي الموقف العربي في وقت اتسعت فيه دائرة التضامن الإقليمي والدولي مع المملكة في مواجهة التصعيد الحوثي، حيث أكدت دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي، في أعقاب هجوم أمس، وقوفها صفاً واحداً إلى جانب السعودية ودعمها الإجراءات التي تتخذها لصون سيادتها وأمنها واستقرارها وسلامة مواطنيها والمقيمين على أراضيها.
كما أكدت السعودية وتركيا ومصر وباكستان، في بيان مشترك صدر على هامش اجتماعات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة في نيويورك في 22 سبتمبر، حق المملكة في الدفاع عن نفسها وفقاً للقانون الدولي، مع التشديد على أهمية أمن الملاحة وضرورة اللجوء إلى الحوار والدبلوماسية لمعالجة أزمات المنطقة.
ويتزامن التصعيد مع تطورات أمنية أوسع في المنطقة، بعدما امتدت الهجمات الحوثية إلى تهديد طرق الملاحة والمنشآت الحيوية، الأمر الذي يثير مخاوف بشأن انعكاس التوتر على أمن الطاقة وحركة التجارة في البحر الأحمر.
وفي هذا السياق، أعلنت تركيا استعدادها لتقديم دعم عسكري للمملكة ضمن اتفاقية الدفاع المشترك الموقعة مع السعودية وباكستان.
وتعيد الاعتداءات المتكررة على الأراضي السعودية ملف أمن اليمن إلى واجهة التحركات الإقليمية، في ظل تأكيد الرياض وحلفائها أن وقف التصعيد والعودة إلى المسار السياسي يمثلان الطريق نحو تسوية شاملة تحفظ أمن المنطقة واستقرارها.
The General Secretariat of the Arab League strongly condemned the launch of ballistic missiles by the Houthi militia towards several cities and regions in Saudi Arabia, affirming its full solidarity with the Kingdom and its support in protecting its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
The Arab League emphasized that the repeated Houthi attacks on Saudi territory represent a highly dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the Kingdom's security and stability, stressing its support for the measures taken by Riyadh to protect its security, in accordance with the United Nations Charter and principles of international law.
The General Secretariat of the Arab League stressed that the continuation of this escalatory approach not only threatens the Kingdom's security but also undermines the chances of reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis and hinders the preparation of the necessary conditions for resuming the political process.
The League renewed its support for regional and international efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis, based on the agreed-upon references and relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216, in a manner that preserves Yemen's unity, sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
This Arab stance comes in the wake of ongoing Houthi escalation in recent days, as the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced yesterday the interception and destruction of six ballistic missiles launched by the militia towards the Kingdom, confirming the thwarting of an attempt to target the cities of Taif and Yanbu.
Days prior, the coalition forces announced the interception of a ballistic missile launched towards Riyadh, along with thwarting attempts to target the regions of Bish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu.
Houthi attacks on the Kingdom have escalated since mid-September; on September 14, coalition forces announced that attacks with ballistic missiles and drones targeted civilian sites in Khamis Mushait, Abha, and Taif, resulting in the injury of 13 civilians and damage to seven houses and two vehicles.
This Arab position comes at a time when regional and international solidarity with the Kingdom in the face of Houthi escalation has widened, as Gulf Cooperation Council countries confirmed, following yesterday's attack, their unified stance alongside Saudi Arabia and their support for the measures it is taking to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents on its territory.
Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan also affirmed, in a joint statement issued on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York on September 22, the Kingdom's right to defend itself in accordance with international law, emphasizing the importance of maritime security and the necessity of resorting to dialogue and diplomacy to address regional crises.
The escalation coincides with broader security developments in the region, as Houthi attacks have extended to threaten shipping routes and vital installations, raising concerns about the implications of the tension on energy security and trade movement in the Red Sea.
In this context, Turkey announced its readiness to provide military support to the Kingdom under the mutual defense agreement signed with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
The repeated attacks on Saudi territory bring the issue of Yemen's security back to the forefront of regional movements, amid Riyadh and its allies' assertion that halting the escalation and returning to the political track represent the path towards a comprehensive settlement that preserves the security and stability of the region.
