The President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, affirmed today (Thursday) that the state and its armed forces are indeed capable of regaining the initiative in the western coast, during his reception of the French Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Gramegon, on the occasion of the end of her term.
Al-Alimi explained that any temporary field development will not change the Yemeni people's goal of restoring their national institutions, ending suffering, and countering the Houthi militia's threats to international peace and security.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council stated: The Yemeni armed forces continue their operations on multiple fronts, and the militia is receiving painful blows on the fronts of Taiz, Marib, Lahij, Al-Jawf, Hajjah, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale, and others, coinciding with the repositioning of the forces and enhancing their ability to regain the initiative and prevent any temporary field gains from becoming a fait accompli or a platform for threatening maritime passages.
He pointed out that the trajectory of developments in the country always proves that the Yemeni state is capable of turning crises into opportunities, indicating that the militia previously believed that its seizure of the capital, Sana'a, and most of the country's cities had become a definitive matter, before the state regained the temporary capital, Aden, and more than 70% of Yemeni territory.
He added that what is happening today is a new phase in the ongoing confrontation that the state is waging to restore its institutions, secure its lands, coasts, and territorial waters, and protect maritime passages from armed threats and cross-border smuggling networks.
He emphasized by stating: The existence of a strong state is no longer just a Yemeni interest, but a necessity for regional and international security, stressing the importance of transitioning the relationship between the Yemeni government and its international partners from crisis management to a strategic partnership in security and deterrence, which includes building the state's capacities, protecting ports and territorial waters, combating terrorism and smuggling, and drying up funding and arming networks of rogue groups.
Al-Alimi expressed his appreciation for the steadfast French position alongside the Yemeni people and their aspirations to end suffering and restore state institutions, noting in this context France's strong stance against the escalation of the Houthi militia, and emphasizing the necessity of stopping its armament and funding, and considering the freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and international straits as non-negotiable.
