The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms revealed today (Saturday) that the Houthis committed 958 crimes and violations during the period from September 3 to 11, 2026, in the districts of the western coast in the governorates of Taiz and Hodeidah.
The network stated that the Houthi violations included killing, injury, arrest, abduction, raids, looting, and other violations that affected civilians, their properties, and civilian facilities, indicating that the militia is behind the displacement and uprooting of approximately 2,300 families from the districts of the western coast.
The network added that the militia extensively used excessive force and targeted populated areas, villages, and neighborhoods, resulting in deaths and injuries among civilians, field executions, arrests, abductions, and enforced disappearances, in addition to widespread waves of displacement and operations of raids, looting, and confiscation of civilian and humanitarian properties and facilities.
The network clarified in its report that the Houthi militia committed 177 direct killings of civilians, including women and children, among which were 38 killings of civilians by the militia's snipers, and 42 field executions targeting wounded members of the armed forces, noting that some of the wounded were executed in front of their children and families, while others were executed inside health centers and hospitals.
The network reported that it documented 53 executions targeting military prisoners, 23 deaths due to random shelling on residential neighborhoods, and 12 deaths from direct gunfire by Houthi militia elements, in addition to 9 deaths resulting from being run over by militia vehicles.
The network mentioned that it recorded 212 injuries, including children and women who sustained varying degrees of injuries, while about 39 injured individuals are still missing, and it is feared that they have fallen victim to enforced disappearance after being abducted from medical facilities.
The network added that its field team documented approximately 213 cases of arrest and abduction of civilians in the western coast areas, coinciding with raid campaigns and the establishment of security checkpoints and barriers set up by the Houthi militia at the entrances and exits of the cities and areas they controlled.
Regarding private facilities, the network stated: There were raid operations that targeted 356 facilities and homes, indicating that these homes and facilities were subjected to storming, raiding, and looting, including 11 government facilities, as 37 homes were completely looted and 282 homes were partially looted, in addition to the looting of 30 civilian vehicles and 17 motorcycles.
The network confirmed that the execution of the wounded and prisoners, especially in cases that occurred in front of the victims' family members or inside health facilities, represents a highly dangerous pattern of violations and raises serious concerns about respecting the protection afforded to the wounded and those unable to fight under the rules of international humanitarian law.
The report pointed to approximately 2,300 families, comprising 19,440 individuals, who were forced to flee due to Houthi shelling and targeting of residential areas and the escalation of military operations.
In the Al-Mokha district alone, Houthi militia attacks caused the displacement of 823 families, including 3,481 women and children, amid fears of an increase in displacement waves with the ongoing escalation.
The network documented the extensive looting of the Al-Mokha port and airport, which included electronic devices, equipment, documents, and various assets, clarifying that the information it received indicates that most of these items were transported to the hijacked capital, Sana'a.
The network documented the Houthi militia's looting of 8 vehicles from the United Nations humanitarian center in Al-Mokha, which hindered humanitarian operations and affected the ability of UN partners to reach populations in need of assistance.
The network called on the international community, the United Nations, the Human Rights Council, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to protect civilians, ensure unhindered access to humanitarian aid, reveal the fate of the missing and forcibly disappeared, and guarantee the protection of the wounded, sick, medical facilities, and humanitarian workers.
It demanded independent and transparent investigations into the serious violations documented and accountability for those responsible, emphasizing that the continued impunity encourages further violations and exacerbates the humanitarian cost of the conflict.
