أشاد المبعوثان الأمريكيان ستيف ويتكوف وجاريد كوشنر بالزخم الجديد الذي اكتسبته محادثاتهما مع الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي في كييف أمس (الأحد)، في إطار مساعي إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لإنهاء الحرب في أوكرانيا.
ووصل ويتكوف وكوشنر إلى كييف قادمين من موسكو، حيث أجريا، السبت، محادثات استمرت ثلاث ساعات مع الرئيس الروسي فلاديمير بوتين.
وقال ويتكوف إنهما استمعا إلى «أفكار جديدة» خلال محادثاتهما في موسكو، معرباً عن أمله في عقد جولة جديدة من المحادثات الروسية-الأوكرانية بوساطة أمريكية، على أن يُعلن عنها «قريباً»، مضيفاً: «أحرزنا الكثير من التقدم في موسكو».
من جانبه، أشاد زيلينسكي بالنقاشات التي أجراها مع ويتكوف وكوشنر، واصفاً إياها بأنها «جوهرية للغاية».
وأكد الرئيس الأوكراني استعداد بلاده للمشاركة في محادثات ثلاثية، مشيراً إلى أنه ناقش مع المبعوثين الأمريكيين إمدادات الدفاع الجوي والدعم في مجال الطاقة، مع اقتراب فصل الشتاء وتزايد التوقعات بتجدد القصف الروسي لشبكة الكهرباء الأوكرانية.
The American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner praised the new momentum gained in their talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv yesterday (Sunday), as part of the efforts of President Donald Trump's administration to end the war in Ukraine.
Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Kyiv from Moscow, where they held three-hour talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday.
Witkoff stated that they heard "new ideas" during their discussions in Moscow, expressing hope for a new round of Russian-Ukrainian talks mediated by the U.S., which he said would be announced "soon," adding: "We made a lot of progress in Moscow."
For his part, Zelensky praised the discussions he had with Witkoff and Kushner, describing them as "very substantive."
The Ukrainian president confirmed his country's readiness to participate in trilateral talks, noting that he discussed air defense supplies and energy support with the American envoys, as winter approaches and expectations rise for renewed Russian shelling of the Ukrainian electricity grid.
