في لحظات حبست أنفاس الشارع بالكامل، تحولت رحلة مدرسية استكشافية كانت تضج بضحكات الصغار إلى كابوس مروع هز جزيرة «فوغو» بجمهورية كابو فيردي (الرأس الأخضر)، عقب انحراف حافلة تنقل عشرات الطلاب عن طريقها وسقوطها المأساوي من أعلى منحدر صخري سحيق يصل ارتفاعه إلى 30 متراً.
المأساة التي كشفت تفاصيلها قناة RTP التلفزيونية خلفت حصيلة دامية بمقتل 25 شخصاً، بينما تحولت أروقة المستشفى الإقليمي بمدينة «ساو فيليبي» إلى ساحة طوارئ واستنفار طبي متواصل، بعد إجلائها لـ 18 طفلاً تتراوح أعمارهم بين 6 و11 عاماً، يرقد أربعة منهم حالياً في غرفة العناية المركزة في حالة حرجة للغاية، بين الحياة والموت.
وبحسب شهادات ومصادر محلية، كانت الحافلة في طريقها لإكمال جولة استكشافية للطلاب قبل أن تفقد توازنها فجأة وتهوي نحو الهاوية في ثوانٍ معدودة، مخلّفة مشاهد صادمة تحركت على إثرها فرق الإنقاذ لانتشال الضحايا من وسط الحطام، وسط حالة عارمة من الذهول والحزن التي خيمت على الأسر التي كانت تنتظر عودة أبنائها من رحلة العلم والترفيه.

The tragedy, the details of which were revealed by RTP television, resulted in a bloody toll with 25 people killed, while the corridors of the regional hospital in the city of "São Filipe" turned into an emergency scene with ongoing medical mobilization, after evacuating 18 children aged between 6 and 11 years, four of whom are currently in the intensive care unit in extremely critical condition, between life and death.
According to testimonies and local sources, the bus was on its way to complete a tour for the students before suddenly losing its balance and plummeting towards the abyss in a matter of seconds, leaving behind shocking scenes that prompted rescue teams to rush to retrieve the victims from the wreckage, amidst an overwhelming state of shock and sorrow that enveloped the families waiting for their children to return from the journey of learning and entertainment.
