U.S. President Donald Trump announced the appointment of current Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Adam T. Smith as Acting Secretary of the Army.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social: "I am pleased to announce that Adam T. Smith, the current Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, will become Acting Secretary of the Army immediately."
The U.S. Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll submitted his resignation on September 1 and officially left the position last (Tuesday).
The Secretary of the Army in the United States is the primary civilian responsible for the U.S. Army only and oversees the Department of the Army, which is one of the three military departments within the Department of Defense.
