توعّد وزير الدفاع الإسرائيلي يسرائيل كاتس إيران بالرد بقوة وبشكل كبير على أي هجوم إيراني محتمل. وقال كاتس في تصريحات صحفية: إن إسرائيل تستعد لاحتمال تعرضها لهجوم إيراني خلال الأعياد اليهودية القادمة، مشدداً على أن أي هجوم من هذا النوع سيُقابل برد قوي.
ولفت إلى أن إسرائيل تترك حالياً للولايات المتحدة قيادة الهجمات ضد إيران، نظراً لمصالح واشنطن المرتبطة بمضيق هرمز وأمن الطاقة، محذراً من أن بلاده قد تنخرط مباشرة في المواجهة.
وأضاف: «إذا هاجمونا، فسنرد بقوة كبيرة وبشكل مستقل عن أي طرف آخر»، مبيناً أن إسرائيل دمرت البرنامج النووي الإيراني خلال عملية الأسد الصاعد.
ولفت إلى أن تل أبيب تراقب أي محاولة لإعادة بنائه، مبيناً أن بلاده لن تسمح لطهران بامتلاك سلاح نووي.
في غضون ذلك، ذكرت وكالة «إيسنا» الإيرانية أن 4 من أفراد القوات الجوفضائية التابعة للحرس الثوري قُتلوا في الغارات الأمريكية الليلة الماضية غرب إيران.
من جهة أخرى، نقلت صحيفة واشنطن بوست عن مسؤول أمريكي قوله إن القوات الأمريكية اعترضت الصواريخ والطائرات المسيّرة التي أطلقتها إيران خلال غارات طوال الليل باتجاه مواقع أمريكية في المنطقة.
وذكر المسؤول الأمريكي للصحيفة أن هدف واشنطن هو دفع إيران إلى التوصل إلى اتفاق، مشيراً إلى أن الإيرانيين يدركون ما تريده الولايات المتحدة من الاتفاق، وأن واشنطن كانت واضحة تماماً بهذا الشأن، فيما تقع على عاتق طهران مسؤولية التوصل إلى هذا الاستنتاج.
The Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has threatened Iran with a strong and significant response to any potential Iranian attack. Katz stated in press remarks that Israel is preparing for the possibility of an Iranian attack during the upcoming Jewish holidays, emphasizing that any attack of this kind will be met with a strong response.
He pointed out that Israel is currently allowing the United States to lead the attacks against Iran, due to Washington's interests related to the Strait of Hormuz and energy security, warning that his country may directly engage in the confrontation.
He added: "If they attack us, we will respond with great force and independently of any other party," indicating that Israel destroyed the Iranian nuclear program during Operation Protective Edge.
He noted that Tel Aviv is monitoring any attempts to rebuild it, stating that his country will not allow Tehran to possess nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, the Iranian news agency "ISNA" reported that 4 members of the Aerospace Force of the Revolutionary Guard were killed in American airstrikes last night in western Iran.
On another note, the Washington Post quoted an American official saying that U.S. forces intercepted the missiles and drones launched by Iran during overnight strikes towards American positions in the region.
The American official told the newspaper that Washington's goal is to push Iran towards an agreement, noting that the Iranians understand what the United States wants from the agreement, and that Washington has been very clear on this matter, while it is Tehran's responsibility to reach this conclusion.
