أعلن وزير الخارجية التركي هاكان فيدان الاتفاق على تسمية اتفاق مكة بـ«حلف مكة»، لافتاً إلى أن الحلف قائم على مبدأ الدفاع و«مكمل لحلف شمال الأطلسي (الناتو)». وقال خلال مؤتمر صحفي في ختام أول اجتماع للجنة الإستراتيجية السياسية والدفاعية، اليوم (الإثنين)، إن الدول الثلاث بدأت تشكيل الهيكل الأساسي لحلف مكة الدفاعي، واصفاً إياه بأنه خطوة تاريخية. وأكد فيدان أن دول المنطقة بحاجة إلى التحرك سوياً لإرساء السلام.
وشدد على أن الدول الثلاث اتخذت خطوات لإنشاء بنية عملية لأمن المنطقة، وتعمل على خريطة طريق لانضمام الدول الأخرى إلى «حلف مكة».
وضم الوفد السعودي وزير الدفاع الأمير خالد بن سلمان، ووزير الخارجية الأمير فيصل بن فرحان، ورئيس الأركان الفريق أول فياض الرويلي. وضم الوفد التركي وزير الخارجية هاكان فيدان، ووزير الدفاع يشار جولر، ورئيس هيئة الأركان العامة سلجوق بيرقدار أوغلو. فيما ضم وفد باكستان وزير الخارجية محمد إسحاق دار، ووزير الدفاع الاتحادي خواجة محمد آصف، ورئيس الأركان المشير عاصم منير.
وبحث الاجتماع قضايا الأمن الدولي، تطوير القدرات الدفاعية، تعزيز قابلية العمل المشترك بين القوات المسلحة للدول الثلاث، وناقش تعميق التعاون في الصناعات الدفاعية، بما يشمل الإنتاج المشترك والبحث والتطوير، وتعزيز الجهود المشتركة في مكافحة الإرهاب، حسبما نقلت وكالة الأنباء التركية الرسمية (الأناضول).
وفي 7 أغسطس الجاري، وقّع ولي العهد الأمير محمد بن سلمان والرئيس التركي رجب أردوغان ورئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف اتفاقية الدفاع المشترك بين الدول الثلاث في مكة المكرمة.
وتأتي الاتفاقية في إطار تعاون دفاعي يهدف إلى تعزيز الالتزامات الرامية إلى الحفاظ على السلام والاستقرار والرفاه على المستويين الإقليمي والعالمي، استناداً إلى مبدأ تقاسم الأعباء والفهم المشترك للأمن.
وتهدف الاتفاقية إلى تعزيز الردع الجماعي في مواجهة أي عمل عدواني، وتنص على اعتبار أي هجوم مسلح على أي من الدول الثلاث هجوماً عليها جميعاً.
The Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the agreement to name the Mecca Agreement as the "Mecca Alliance," noting that the alliance is based on the principle of defense and is "complementary to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)." He stated during a press conference at the conclusion of the first meeting of the political and defense strategic committee today (Monday) that the three countries have begun to form the basic structure of the Mecca defense alliance, describing it as a historic step. Fidan emphasized that the countries in the region need to move together to establish peace.
He stressed that the three countries have taken steps to create a practical framework for regional security and are working on a roadmap for the accession of other countries to the "Mecca Alliance."
The Saudi delegation included Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and Chief of Staff General Fayyad Al-Ruwaili. The Turkish delegation included Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yasar Guler, and Chief of General Staff General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu. Meanwhile, the Pakistani delegation included Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister of Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif, and Chief of Staff General Asim Munir.
The meeting discussed issues of international security, developing defense capabilities, enhancing joint operational capability among the armed forces of the three countries, and deepening cooperation in defense industries, including joint production and research and development, as well as strengthening joint efforts in combating terrorism, according to the Turkish state news agency (Anadolu).
On August 7, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif signed a joint defense agreement among the three countries in Mecca.
The agreement comes as part of a defense cooperation aimed at strengthening commitments to maintain peace, stability, and prosperity at both regional and global levels, based on the principle of burden-sharing and a mutual understanding of security.
The agreement aims to enhance collective deterrence against any aggressive action and stipulates that any armed attack on any of the three countries will be considered an attack on all of them.
