أكد متحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية، اليوم (السبت)، أن الولايات المتحدة تقف إلى جانب الشعب اللبناني وتريد أن يكون لبنان بلداً آمناً وذا سيادة، لكن ذلك يتطلب نزع سلاح حزب الله.
وأوضح أن اتفاق الإطار الثلاثي بين الولايات المتحدة ولبنان وإسرائيل ينص بوضوح على أن الحكومة اللبنانية هي الجهة الشرعية الوحيدة المخولة بإجراء النقاشات المتعلقة بمستقبل لبنان والتحدث نيابة عن الشعب اللبناني.
وأضاف: «واشنطن لا تريد شيئاً أكثر من أن يسلّم حزب الله أسلحته»، مبيناً أنه عندما يصبح الحزب مستعداً للقيام بذلك، يمكنه التواصل مع الدولة اللبنانية، التي تجري الولايات المتحدة حواراً معها بالفعل، وإبلاغها باستعداده لتسليم سلاحه، بما يتيح العمل على تقريب وجهات النظر.
ولفت إلى أن حزب الله، في الوقت الراهن، لا يريد التحدث مع الدولة اللبنانية، ولا معنا، ولا مع إسرائيل، موضحاً أن الحزب يتلقى أوامره ببساطة من إيران.
وشدد بالقول: «حان الوقت لأن يفعل حزب الله ما هو الأفضل للبنان وللشعب اللبناني».
وينص اتفاق الإطار الذي أُبرم بين لبنان وإسرائيل في 26 يونيو الماضي، بعد خمس جولات تفاوض برعاية أمريكية، على نزع سلاح حزب الله وانسحاب إسرائيل تدريجياً من الأراضي التي تحتلها في جنوب لبنان، وانتشار الجيش اللبناني بدءاً من مناطق تجريبية.
A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State confirmed today (Saturday) that the United States stands by the Lebanese people and wants Lebanon to be a safe and sovereign country, but this requires the disarmament of Hezbollah.
He explained that the framework agreement between the United States, Lebanon, and Israel clearly states that the Lebanese government is the only legitimate authority authorized to conduct discussions regarding Lebanon's future and to speak on behalf of the Lebanese people.
He added, "Washington wants nothing more than for Hezbollah to hand over its weapons," indicating that when the party is ready to do so, it can communicate with the Lebanese state, with which the United States is already in dialogue, and inform it of its readiness to surrender its arms, allowing for the alignment of perspectives.
He pointed out that Hezbollah, at present, does not want to talk with the Lebanese state, nor with us, nor with Israel, explaining that the party simply receives its orders from Iran.
He emphasized by saying, "It is time for Hezbollah to do what is best for Lebanon and the Lebanese people."
The framework agreement that was concluded between Lebanon and Israel on June 26 of last year, after five rounds of negotiations sponsored by the United States, stipulates the disarmament of Hezbollah and the gradual withdrawal of Israel from the territories it occupies in southern Lebanon, as well as the deployment of the Lebanese army starting from experimental areas.
