أعلنت وزارة الدفاع في النيجر، اليوم (السبت)، استعادة السيطرة تدريجياً على بعض المناطق التي هاجمها جنود متمردون، بما في ذلك مطار نيامي ومقر الرئاسة في العاصمة نيامي. وأوضحت وزارة الدفاع أن القوات المسلحة تستعيد تدريجياً السيطرة على المواقع التي استهدفها الهجوم، رغم أن مصادر أمنية أفادت بأن المتمردين ما زالوا موجودين في المطار، وأن الوضع العام لا يزال غير واضح.
واستأنف التلفزيون الرسمي البث بعد توقفه لساعات، موضحاً أن «جنوداً متمردين أطلقوا النار من قاعدة في نيامي على مواقع حساسة في المدينة». وأضاف التلفزيون أن قوات الأمن تحركت بسرعة وتسيطر على هذا الاضطراب.
وقال مصدران أمنيان ودبلوماسي إن قوات موالية للحكومة أحكمت سيطرتها على القصر الرئاسي وأمنته، إلا أن المنطقة المحيطة بالمطار ظلت محل نزاع، مبينين أن قوات موالية للحكومة أُرسلت لاستعادة السيطرة على المطار، سواء عبر التفاوض أو بالقوة.
ويُمثّل الهجوم أحدث تهديد لحكم الجنرال عبدالرحمن تياني، الذي استولى على السلطة في انقلاب عام 2023، وتعهد بتحسين الأمن في الدولة الواقعة بمنطقة الساحل، والمنتجة الرئيسية لليورانيوم، لكن الهجمات استمرت. وكان تنظيما «القاعدة» و«داعش» قد نفذا هجمات على المطار المدني والقاعدة الجوية العسكرية في وقت سابق من العام الحالي، مما أثار شكوكاً أولية في أن مسلحين ربما كانوا وراء الهجوم على العاصمة.

The state television resumed broadcasting after being off the air for hours, stating that "rebel soldiers fired from a base in Niamey at sensitive locations in the city." The television added that security forces acted quickly and are controlling this unrest.
Two security sources and a diplomat stated that government-aligned forces tightened their control over the presidential palace and secured it, but the area surrounding the airport remained contested, indicating that government-aligned forces were sent to regain control of the airport, either through negotiation or by force.
The attack represents the latest threat to the rule of General Abdourahamane Tiani, who seized power in a coup in 2023 and pledged to improve security in the Sahel nation, a major producer of uranium, but attacks have continued. Both "Al-Qaeda" and "ISIS" had carried out attacks on the civilian airport and the military airbase earlier this year, raising initial doubts that militants might have been behind the attack on the capital.
