أعلن الجيش اللبناني، اليوم (الأربعاء)، توقيف مواطن سوري عند الحدود اللبنانية السورية أثناء محاولته تهريب كمية من القذائف الصاروخية إلى الأراضي اللبنانية، وضبط الشحنة. وقال الجيش في بيان إن وحدة عسكرية نفذت العملية وصادرت القذائف المضبوطة في بلدة عيحا بقضاء راشيا، وجرى تسليمها إلى الجهات المختصة، مبيناً أن وحدة أخرى من الجيش أوقفت 10 سوريين في بلدة شعت بقضاء بعلبك لتورطهم في إشكال وقع داخل أحد مخيمات النازحين في البلدة.
وأشار البيان إلى أن التحقيقات بوشرت مع الموقوفين بإشراف القضاء المختص، فيما تتابع الجهات المعنية الإجراءات اللازمة بشأن المضبوطات.
وكانت السلطات السورية قد ضبطت الشهر الماضي شحنة أسلحة مخبأة في سيارة متجهة إلى لبنان عبر أمانة جمارك جديدة يابوس في ريف دمشق. وذكرت الأجهزة الأمنية السورية أن المضبوطات شملت 226 قنبلة من نوع «RGC»، كانت مخبّأة بإحكام ضمن مخابئ سرية داخل إحدى السيارات المتجهة إلى الأراضي اللبنانية.
وتشهد الحدود والمنافذ الجمركية السورية عموماً حالة تأهب أمني في ظل الإجراءات التي يتخذها البلدان لمنع التهريب وحماية أراضيهم.
The Lebanese army announced today (Wednesday) the arrest of a Syrian citizen at the Lebanese-Syrian border while attempting to smuggle a quantity of rocket shells into Lebanese territory, and the shipment was seized. The army stated in a statement that a military unit carried out the operation and confiscated the seized shells in the town of Aayha in the Rashaya district, and they were handed over to the relevant authorities. It also indicated that another unit of the army arrested 10 Syrians in the town of Shaat in the Baalbek district for their involvement in an incident that occurred inside one of the refugee camps in the town.
The statement noted that investigations have begun with the detainees under the supervision of the competent judiciary, while the relevant authorities are following up on the necessary procedures regarding the confiscated items.
Last month, Syrian authorities seized a shipment of weapons hidden in a vehicle heading to Lebanon through the New Yabous customs office in the Damascus countryside. The Syrian security agencies reported that the confiscated items included 226 bombs of the "RGC" type, which were carefully hidden in secret compartments within one of the vehicles heading to Lebanese territory.
The Syrian borders and customs crossings are generally experiencing a state of security alert amid the measures taken by both countries to prevent smuggling and protect their territories.
