في تصعيد لافت، لوح الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب مجدداً بـالسيطرة على مضيق هرمز، وهدد بالهيمنة على الممر الملاحي الحيوي وتحويله إلى «أرض أمريكية».
وأعاد ترمب اليوم (الثلاثاء)، نشر خريطة للمضيق في الخليج العربي. وكتب في منشور على منصته «تروث سوشيل» فوق الخريطة «أرض أمريكية جديدة».
وسارع مساعد الرئيس الإيراني محمد رضا عارف إلى الرد على ترمب بقوله «مضيق هرمز تابع لنا منذ سنوات طويلة». وقال عارف في تصريحات (الثلاثاء)، في ختام الاجتماع الـ39 لرؤساء إدارات التربية والتعليم في أنحاء البلاد: إن الجانب الأمريكي يدعي ملكيته للمضيق، واصفاً هذا الادعاء بـ«المضحك والسخيف». وأضاف: «إذا قلنا إن خليجاً ما في أمريكا تابع لإيران، فماذا سيكون رد فعل المحللين الأمريكيين؟». وأفاد بأن «مسألة مضيق هرمز ستحل قريباً»، وفق تعبيره.
وكان الرئيس الأمريكي، أعلن أمس أن إيران لن تبرم الاتفاق الذي يراه ضرورياً لإنهاء الحرب مع الولايات المتحدة، وأن عليها الاستسلام، وذلك في الوقت الذي لا تزال فيه المحادثات بين البلدين متعثرة.
ورداً على سؤال عما إذا كانت الولايات المتحدة تسعى إلى تمديد الاتفاق المؤقت مع الجانب الإيراني الذي وُقع في يونيو الماضي، أجاب ترمب بالنفي.
وتوصلت إيران والولايات المتحدة في يونيو الماضي إلى اتفاق مؤقت أعلن بموجبه «الإنهاء الفوري والدائم للعمليات العسكرية على جميع الجبهات»، إلا أنه سرعان ما انهار في السابع من يوليو إثر غارات أمريكية على مناطق في إيران، على خلفية اتهامات أمريكية للقوات الإيرانية بتهديد الملاحة في «هرمز» والاعتداء على سفن الشحن.
وكان من المفترض أن يلتزم الجانبان بالتفاوض على اتفاق نهائي يشمل قضايا أكبر، مثل مصير البرنامج النووي الإيراني، خلال فترة أقصاها 60 يوماً قابلة للتمديد بالتراضي، وهي فترة انتهت بالفعل أمس.
In a striking escalation, U.S. President Donald Trump has once again threatened to take control of the Strait of Hormuz, warning of dominance over the vital shipping lane and turning it into "American land."
Today (Tuesday), Trump reposted a map of the strait in the Arabian Gulf. He wrote in a post on his platform "Truth Social" above the map, "New American Land."
Iranian President's assistant Mohammad Reza Aref quickly responded to Trump, stating, "The Strait of Hormuz has been ours for many years." Aref said in statements (Tuesday), at the conclusion of the 39th meeting of education department heads across the country, that the American side claims ownership of the strait, describing this claim as "ridiculous and absurd." He added, "If we said that a certain gulf in America belongs to Iran, what would be the reaction of American analysts?" He stated that "the issue of the Strait of Hormuz will be resolved soon," according to his expression.
Yesterday, the American president announced that Iran would not reach the agreement he deems necessary to end the war with the United States and that it must surrender, at a time when talks between the two countries remain stalled.
In response to a question about whether the United States is seeking to extend the temporary agreement with the Iranian side that was signed last June, Trump answered in the negative.
Iran and the United States reached a temporary agreement last June, under which "immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts" was announced; however, it quickly collapsed on July 7 following American airstrikes on areas in Iran, amid American accusations of Iranian forces threatening navigation in "Hormuz" and attacking shipping vessels.
Both sides were supposed to commit to negotiating a final agreement that includes larger issues, such as the fate of the Iranian nuclear program, within a maximum period of 60 days, extendable by mutual consent, a period that has already ended yesterday.
