تصدى الجيش السوداني لهجمات جديدة شنتها قوات الدعم السريع على منطقتي أم عردة وجبل الهشابة في جنوب ولاية شمال كردفان.
وأكدت مصادر سودانية عسكرية، اليوم الجمعة)، أن الجيش تعامل مع الهجوم وتمكن من دحر القوة المهاجمة وأجبرها على الفرار بعدما ألحق بها خسائر كبيرة في صفوف عناصرها ومركباتها القتالية.
وأفادت بأن قوات الجيش لا تزال تلاحق عناصر الدعم الهاربة في الأنحاء الغربية على الحدود مع غرب كردفان، وجنوباً باتجاه جنوب كردفان.
وتعتبر هذه الهجمات الثانية التي تقوم بها قوات الدعم السريع على أحد محاور القتال في شمال كردفان بعد هجوم فاشل قامت به اتجاه جبرة الشيخ (الخميس) بأكثر من 250 عربة قتالية تمكن الجيش من التصدي لها وإلحاق خسائر في صفوفها. ويكتسب محور جبرة الشيخ أهمية ميدانية بسبب موقع المنطقة في شمال كردفان وقربها من الطرق التي تربط وسط وشمال السودان بإقليم دارفور، ما يجعل السيطرة على محاور الحركة فيها ذات أهمية بالنسبة إلى طرفي النزاع.
يذكر أن قوات الجيش كانت سيطرت على وسط البلاد وشرقها وشمالها، وحقق انتصاراً كبيراً الشهر الماضي، إذ تمكن من إبعاد قوات الدعم السريع إلى الغرب، والسيطرة على الطريق السريع الرابط بين أم درمان والأبيّض، أكبر مدن منطقة كردفان التي كانت قوات الدعم السريع تسعى منذ أشهر لتطويقها بصورة كاملة.
فيما اشتدت المعارك للسيطرة على مناطق في ولاية جنوب كردفان على طول الحدود الجنوبية الشرقية مع إثيوبيا.
ومنذ شهر أبريل العام 2023، تدور حرب في السودان بين الجيش وقوات الدعم السريع، أسفرت عن مقتل أكثر من 200 ألف شخص حسب تقديرات عاملين في مجال الإغاثة، وتشريد أكثر من 12 مليون سوداني، في أسوأ أزمة إنسانية في العالم، وفق الأمم المتحدة.
The Sudanese army has repelled new attacks launched by the Rapid Support Forces on the areas of Um Arda and Jebel Al-Hoshaba in the south of North Kordofan state.
Sudanese military sources confirmed today (Friday) that the army dealt with the attack and was able to repel the attacking force, forcing them to flee after inflicting heavy losses on their ranks and combat vehicles.
It was reported that army forces are still pursuing the fleeing Rapid Support elements in the western regions along the border with West Kordofan, and southward towards South Kordofan.
This marks the second attack by the Rapid Support Forces on one of the combat fronts in North Kordofan, following a failed attack towards Jabra Al-Sheikh (on Thursday) involving more than 250 combat vehicles, which the army managed to confront and inflict losses upon. The Jabra Al-Sheikh front holds tactical importance due to the area's location in North Kordofan and its proximity to the roads connecting central and northern Sudan with the Darfur region, making control over the movement axes there significant for both parties in the conflict.
It is worth noting that the army had previously controlled the central, eastern, and northern parts of the country, achieving a significant victory last month by pushing the Rapid Support Forces westward and securing the highway linking Omdurman and Al-Obeid, the largest city in the Kordofan region, which the Rapid Support Forces had been trying to completely encircle for months.
The battles have intensified for control over areas in South Kordofan along the southeastern border with Ethiopia.
Since April 2023, a war has been raging in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in the deaths of more than 200,000 people according to estimates from relief workers, and displacing over 12 million Sudanese, in what the United Nations describes as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.
