مع بدء تصاعد أدخنة الحريق وتغطيتها للمركّب التجاري، ضجت منصات التواصل الاجتماعي بشائعات سريعة ادعت «سقوط مصعد كهربائي» بالمتسوقين. لكن المصادر الأمنية الميدانية سرعان ما حسمت الجدل ونفت هذه الأنباء تماماً، كاشفة السبب الحقيقي والغريب المسبب للكارثة: انفجار أسطوانة غاز «هيليوم» داخل محل «Best For You»، لتندفع ألسنة اللهب بغزارة ممتدة نحو المطعم المجاور.
لم يمنح الانفجار والنيران المتصاعدة المتواجدين فرصة كافية للمناورة، ما أسفر عن مصرع 3 عمال في موقع الحادثة، وإصابة 8 آخرين بجروح وحروق متفاوتة، ليصل إجمالي المتأثرين بالكارثة إلى 11 شخصاً.
وعلى الفور، تحول محيط «مول أرابيلا» إلى ساحة استنفار أمني وطبي، حيث دفعت هيئة الإسعاف بـ8 سيارات مجهزة لنقل الضحايا إلى مستشفى القاهرة الجديدة التخصصي والمستشفيات المجاورة، بينما أعلنت وزارة الصحة والسكان المصرية حالة الطوارئ في المنشآت الطبية القريبة لمتابعة الحالات الحرة وتوفير الرعاية العاجلة.
ونجحت فرق الحماية المدنية بالقاهرة في محاصرة النيران والسيطرة الكلية عليها قبل امتدادها لبقية أرجاء المول، فيما فتحت النيابة العامة تحقيقات موسعة لكشف ملابسات الانفجار، في حادثة مؤلمة أظهرت كيف تتحول مادة تُستخدم عادة لإشاعة البهجة (الهيليوم) إلى فاجعة سوداء في لحظة خاطفة.

As the smoke from the fire began to rise and cover the commercial complex, social media platforms buzzed with rapid rumors claiming that an "elevator had fallen" with shoppers inside. However, field security sources quickly settled the debate and completely denied this news, revealing the strange and true cause of the disaster: an explosion of a "helium" gas cylinder inside the "Best For You" store, sending flames roaring towards the adjacent restaurant.
The explosion and the rising flames did not give those present a chance to maneuver, resulting in the death of 3 workers at the scene and injuries to 8 others with varying degrees of burns and wounds, bringing the total number of those affected by the disaster to 11.
Immediately, the area around "Arabella Mall" turned into a hub of security and medical alert, as the ambulance authority dispatched 8 equipped vehicles to transport the victims to the New Cairo Specialized Hospital and nearby hospitals, while the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population declared a state of emergency in the nearby medical facilities to monitor the cases and provide urgent care.
