The Yemeni ambassador to the United States, Jamila Ali Rajea, emphasized the importance of continuing Yemeni-Saudi-American coordination on common issues, and supporting efforts aimed at achieving stability in Yemen and the region, alongside ongoing work to confront what she described as the persistent Houthi threats. She warned against involving the Houthi group in any potential understandings between Washington and Tehran, stating that the group seeks to exploit its attacks on international navigation to evade its internal obligations towards the Yemeni people. Rajea, in a statement to the media, mentioned that she participated alongside the Saudi ambassador to the United States, Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan, in a meeting with U.S. Congressman Darrell Issa, during which developments in Yemen and the region and the Houthi escalation were discussed. She pointed out that the meeting addressed the threats posed by Houthi activities to the security of Yemen and the region, as well as to international navigation, particularly in the Red Sea, Bab el-Mandeb, and the Gulf of Aden, in addition to the importance of enhancing international efforts to protect shipping and trade routes. She clarified that it was emphasized that support for the Yemeni government and state institutions is necessary, and that there should be a response to the violations committed by the Houthis against civilians, including arbitrary arrests and the deterioration of humanitarian conditions in areas under their control, as well as the group's use of social media platforms for propaganda, incitement, and recruitment. The Yemeni ambassador to Washington noted that the Houthis view the improvement of the Yemeni government's performance and the strengthening of coordination among the Yemeni armed forces as a threat to them.
