دان مجلس الأمن الدولي اليوم (الخميس)، الهجوم الحوثي على السعودية والسفن التجارية في باب المندب، محذراً من تداعياتها على أمن المنطقة وسلامة الملاحة الدولية.
وأكد أعضاء المجلس في البيان أن هجمات مليشيا الحوثي على السعودية، وكذلك الهجمات التي استهدفت السفن التجارية تمثل تصعيداً خطيراً يهدد الأمن والاستقرار الإقليميين وحرية الملاحة البحرية. وخلال اجتماع مجلس الأمن الدولي شدد المبعوث الأممي إلى اليمن، هانس غروندبرغ، على أن اليمن يواجه خطراً حقيقياً بالعودة إلى دائرة الصراع الأوسع، محذراً من أن النزاع قد يمتد إلى المنطقة بأكملها. ودعا غروندبرغ إلى خفض التصعيد ووقف الهجمات، مؤكداً أن الحوثيين نفذوا هجمات على عدد من السفن.
ولفت إلى أن هذه العمليات تعرّض الملاحة البحرية للخطر، داعياً المليشيا لوقف هجماتها وضمان حرية الملاحة في البحر الأحمر. وطالب المبعوث الأممي مجلس الأمن بممارسة الضغط لدفع الأطراف اليمنية إلى العودة لطاولة الحوار، قائلاً: «يجب انتهاج الحوار بدلاً من القتال».
وأشار إلى أن تجدد الحرب سيعطل التنمية والخدمات، مبيناً أنه لا يوجد حتى الآن أي تقدم ملموس في المسار السياسي أو في الجهود الرامية إلى التوصل إلى حل سلمي للأزمة.
بدورها، قالت مندوبة الولايات المتحدة في مجلس الأمن، تامي بروس، إن الهجمات الحوثية تهدد استقرار المنطقة، داعية المليشيا الحوثية إلى وقف اعتداءاتها. وجددت المندوبة الأمريكية دعم بلادها للحكومة اليمنية في مواجهة تهديدات الحوثيين. وتزامن اجتماع مجلس الأمن الدولي مع استمرار التصعيد الحوثي في اليمن والبحر الأحمر، وسط دعوات دولية إلى تجنب التصعيد وحماية المدنيين والممرات البحرية وضمان حرية الملاحة.
The United Nations Security Council today (Thursday) condemned the Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia and commercial ships in the Bab al-Mandab, warning of its repercussions on regional security and the safety of international navigation.
Council members affirmed in the statement that the Houthi militia's attacks on Saudi Arabia, as well as the attacks targeting commercial ships, represent a serious escalation that threatens regional security and stability and freedom of maritime navigation. During the meeting of the Security Council, the UN envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, emphasized that Yemen faces a real danger of returning to a broader conflict, warning that the dispute could extend to the entire region. Grundberg called for de-escalation and an end to the attacks, confirming that the Houthis have carried out attacks on several ships.
He pointed out that these operations endanger maritime navigation, calling on the militia to stop its attacks and ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea. The UN envoy urged the Security Council to exert pressure to push the Yemeni parties back to the negotiating table, stating: "Dialogue must be pursued instead of fighting."
He noted that the resumption of war would disrupt development and services, indicating that there has been no tangible progress so far in the political track or in efforts to reach a peaceful solution to the crisis.
For her part, the US representative to the Security Council, Tammy Bruce, stated that the Houthi attacks threaten the stability of the region, calling on the Houthi militia to cease its aggressions. The American representative reiterated her country's support for the Yemeni government in facing the threats from the Houthis. The meeting of the Security Council coincided with the continued Houthi escalation in Yemen and the Red Sea, amid international calls to avoid escalation and protect civilians and maritime corridors and ensure freedom of navigation.
