أكد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب اليوم (الأربعاء) أن المتحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض كارولين ليفيت ستغادر منصبها نهاية الشهر الجاري.
وكتب ترمب على منصته «تروث سوشال»: «ستغادر المتحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض، وأحد أكثر مساعديَّ ثقة، كارولين ليفيت، منصبها في نهاية الشهر، حتى تتمكن من قضاء مزيد من الوقت مع أطفالها وعائلتها، وهو قرار أتفهمه تماماً وأحترمه».
وأضاف: ستكون كارولين الآن واحدة من أبرز مستشاريَّ من خارج الإدارة، وصوتاً مؤثراً داخل الحزب الجمهوري، بينما نعمل على تحدي مجرى التاريخ وتحقيق فوز حاسم في انتخابات التجديد النصفي.
وأضاف: «لقد كانت كارولين قائدة حقيقية في البيت الأبيض، وأدت عملاً استثنائياً في الدفاع عن العدالة والحرية والتحرر، منذ 2018، بما في ذلك خلال حملتنا التاريخية لإعادة انتخابنا 2024».
ووصف ترمب كارولين بأنها «واحدة من أفضل المتحدثين باسم البيت الأبيض في تاريخ هذا المنصب»، مضيفاً: «شكراً لكِ كارولين على العمل الرائع الذي أنجزتِه».
تعد كارولين ليفيت من أبرز الوجوه الإعلامية في الإدارة الأمريكية، وصعد اسمها سريعاً داخل الحزب الجمهوري بفضل قربها من الرئيس دونالد ترمب ودورها في الدفاع عن سياساته أمام وسائل الإعلام.
وُلدت ليفيت في ولاية نيوهامبشير عام 1997، ودرست السياسة والاتصالات في كلية سانت أنسيلم، قبل أن تبدأ مسيرتها السياسية داخل البيت الأبيض خلال الولاية الأولى لترمب.
وعملت في البداية متدربة في مكتب المراسلات، ثم انتقلت إلى المكتب الصحفي وعملت مساعدة للمتحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض آنذاك كايلي ماكناني.
بعد انتهاء ولاية ترمب الأولى، تولت ليفيت منصب مديرة الاتصالات للنائبة الجمهورية إليز ستيفانيك، ثم خاضت الانتخابات لمجلس النواب عن ولاية نيوهامبشير 2022، لكنها خسرت أمام الديمقراطي كريس باباس.
وعادت إلى الواجهة السياسية خلال حملة ترمب الرئاسية 2024، عندما اختيرت متحدثة وطنية باسم حملته، وبرزت بشكل مكثف في وسائل الإعلام للدفاع عن برنامجه وسياساته.
وفي نوفمبر 2024، أعلن ترمب اختيارها متحدثة باسم البيت الأبيض في ولايته الثانية، لتصبح، وهي في الـ27 من عمرها، أصغر شخص يتولى هذا المنصب في تاريخ الولايات المتحدة، متجاوزة الرقم السابق المسجل باسم رونالد زيغلر الذي كان يبلغ 29 عاماً عندما تولى المنصب في إدارة الرئيس ريتشارد نيكسون.
U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed today (Wednesday) that White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt will leave her position at the end of this month.
Trump wrote on his platform "Truth Social": "The White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Caroline Levitt, will be leaving her position at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her children and family, a decision I completely understand and respect."
He added: "Caroline will now be one of my leading outside advisors and a significant voice within the Republican Party as we work to challenge the course of history and achieve a decisive victory in the midterm elections."
He continued: "Caroline has been a true leader in the White House, doing an exceptional job defending justice, freedom, and liberation since 2018, including during our historic campaign for re-election in 2024."
Trump described Caroline as "one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the history of the position," adding: "Thank you, Caroline, for the great work you have done."
Caroline Levitt is one of the prominent media faces in the U.S. administration, and her name quickly rose within the Republican Party due to her closeness to President Donald Trump and her role in defending his policies in front of the media.
Levitt was born in New Hampshire in 1997 and studied politics and communications at Saint Anselm College before beginning her political career in the White House during Trump's first term.
She initially worked as an intern in the correspondence office, then moved to the press office and served as an assistant to then-White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany.
After Trump's first term ended, Levitt became the communications director for Republican Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, then ran for the House of Representatives from New Hampshire in 2022, but lost to Democrat Chris Pappas.
She returned to the political spotlight during Trump's 2024 presidential campaign when she was chosen as the national spokesperson for his campaign, prominently appearing in the media to defend his agenda and policies.
In November 2024, Trump announced her selection as White House Press Secretary in his second term, making her, at 27 years old, the youngest person to hold this position in U.S. history, surpassing the previous record held by Ronald Ziegler, who was 29 when he took the position in President Richard Nixon's administration.
