اعترضت طائرات مقاتلة أمريكية طائرة مدنية دخلت المجال الجوي فوق فعالية رياضية كان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب يحضرها في أوهايو، أمس (الثلاثاء)، وأطلقت مشاعل تحذيرية لحثها على مغادرة منطقة حظر الطيران.
وكشفت صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز» أن قيادة الدفاع الجوي لأمريكا الشمالية (نوراد)، المسؤولة عن مراقبة وتسيير دوريات في المجال الجوي الأمريكي، أكدت أن طائرة انتهكت قيود الطيران المؤقتة فوق المدينة التي استضافت دورة الألعاب الوطنية التي كان يستضيفها ترمب في أوهايو.
وأوضحت «نوراد» في بيان لها أن الطائرات المقاتلة الأمريكية رافقت الطائرة بأمان خارج المجال الجوي.
يذكر أن هذه المرة الرابعة على الأقل التي تنتهك فيها طائرة منطقة حظر الطيران قرب إقامة ترمب هذا الأسبوع فقط. إذ دخلت ثلاث طائرات المجال الجوي المحظور حول ملعب الجولف الخاص بترمب في بيدمينستر في نيو جيرسي، (الأحد).
وحسب الصحيفة، فإن هذه الاختراقات كانت عرضية، ووجّهت قيادة الدفاع الجوي لأمريكا الشمالية تذكيراً مهماً للطيارين بضرورة التحقق بانتظام من الإشعارات الفيدرالية المتعلقة بإغلاق المجال الجوي.
أما الحادثة التي وقعت فوق أوهايو، (الثلاثاء)، فكانت أكثر أهمية، إذ قامت المقاتلات التي أُرسلت لاعتراض الطائرة في المجال المحظور بإطلاق مشاعل حرارية، وهو إجراء مضاد يهدف عادة إلى تضليل الصواريخ الموجهة بالأشعة تحت الحمراء وإبطال مفعولها، لجذب انتباه الطيارين وإبلاغهم بضرورة مغادرة المجال الجوي.
ووقعت سلسلة مماثلة من الحوادث في وقت سابق في بيدمينستر. ففي 19 يوليو، اعترضت طائرات F-16 التابعة لـ «نوراد» ثلاث طائرات، وأطلقت مشاعل حرارية في اثنتين من تلك المواجهات لإخراجها من المجال الجوي المحظور فوق ملعب الجولف الخاص بترمب.
U.S. fighter jets intercepted a civilian aircraft that entered the airspace over a sporting event attended by President Donald Trump in Ohio yesterday (Tuesday), and fired warning flares to urge it to leave the no-fly zone.
The New York Times revealed that the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), responsible for monitoring and patrolling U.S. airspace, confirmed that an aircraft violated temporary flight restrictions over the city hosting the national games that Trump was attending in Ohio.
NORAD explained in a statement that the U.S. fighter jets safely escorted the aircraft out of the airspace.
This marks at least the fourth time this week that an aircraft has violated the no-fly zone near Trump's residence. Three aircraft entered the restricted airspace around Trump's golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Sunday.
According to the newspaper, these breaches were accidental, and NORAD issued an important reminder to pilots to regularly check federal notices regarding airspace closures.
The incident that occurred over Ohio on Tuesday was more significant, as the fighters sent to intercept the aircraft in the restricted area fired flares, a countermeasure typically aimed at misleading infrared-guided missiles and neutralizing them, to attract the pilots' attention and inform them of the need to leave the airspace.
A similar series of incidents occurred earlier in Bedminster. On July 19, NORAD's F-16 jets intercepted three aircraft, firing flares in two of those encounters to remove them from the restricted airspace over Trump's golf course.
