Reuters reported that a senior Iranian official stated that there have been no discussions between Iran and the United States to extend the ceasefire, because from Tehran's perspective, the agreement had no start date, and therefore there is nothing to extend.
The Iranian official claimed that Washington violated the temporary agreement 48 hours after it was signed and then withdrew from it after a few days.
The official noted that among the issues being discussed is the return of the U.S. to the memorandum of understanding and setting a timeline for fulfilling its commitments.
For its part, the International Energy Agency has lowered its forecasts for global oil supplies this year, expecting a decline of about 4.3 million barrels per day, or about 4%, as the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz continues to be hindered, deepening the market's deficit.
The agency stated in its monthly oil market report that the absence of an agreement allowing the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the resumption of unobstructed passage through the Bab el-Mandeb Strait prompted it to lower supply estimates for the remainder of the year.
This represents an additional reduction compared to July's forecasts, which indicated a decline of 3.7 million barrels per day, bringing global supply estimates to 102.02 million barrels per day, the lowest level the agency expects for this year.
For his part, Oliver Burkhard, the CEO of the German company (TKMS) specialized in building warships, said on Wednesday that the company is witnessing an increase in demand from Middle Eastern countries since the outbreak of the war with Iran, noting that mine countermeasure technologies are among the key areas where demand has risen.
Burkhard added during the company's nine-month results presentation that "we have not seen this level of demand before," considering that the security landscape in the region has changed following the war.
