حذر مسؤولون أمريكيون اليوم (السبت) من استنزاف مخزون الأسلحة الأمريكية في الحرب ضد إيران.
ونقلت صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز» عن مسؤولين أمريكيين تحذيرهم من أن الولايات المتحدة تستنزف مخزونها من الأسلحة في الحرب ضد إيران، وأن الأمر ليس خافياً على روسيا والصين.
ولفت المسؤولون للصحيفة إلى أن أمريكا استنزفت مخزونها من صواريخ الدفاع الجوي في التصدي للأعداد الهائلة من الصواريخ التي أطلقتها إيران إلى درجة جعلت الولايات المتحدة تؤجل تسليم طلبيات أسلحة إلى عملاء أوروبيين وآسيويين، مبينة أن روسيا والصين تتابعان عن كثب مخزونات بلادها من الصواريخ بعيدة المدى، وأن تراجع القوة النارية الأمريكية في أوروبا وآسيا أثار قلق الأوساط العسكرية والاستخباراتية.
وأضاف المسؤولون الأمريكيون أن الحرب في إيران دفعت وزارة الحرب لسحب سفن وطائرات وأنظمة دفاع جوي من مختلف أنحاء أوروبا وآسيا ونقلها إلى الشرق الأوسط مما قد يفرض تحديات في ما يتعلق بالصيانة ومعنويات القوات كما أدى إلى تآكل القدرات الأمريكية في المناطق التي سحبت منها الأسلحة والقوات وقد يكون لذلك تبعات مستقبلية.
وذكرت الصحيفة أن القوات الأمريكية في كوريا الجنوبية أصبحت عرضة للخطر بعد توجيه أصول دفاعية للشرق الأوسط.
ونقلت «نيويورك تايمز» عن المتحدث باسم «البنتاغون» قوله إن التقارير عن نقص في الأسلحة غير صحيحة ونملك كل ما يلزم لتنفيذ أي ضربة.
في غضون ذلك، أكد نائب الرئيس الأمريكي جي دي فانس اليوم أن بلاده تركز على ضمان حرية الملاحة في مضيق هرمز. وقال فانس في تصريحات للصحفيين: الولايات المتحدة تركز الآن على ضمان حرية مرور النفط والغاز عبر مضيق هرمز، مبيناً أن «المفاوضات مع إيران لا تزال في منتصف الطريق».
ولفت إلى أن واشنطن تعكف على وضع خطة لحركة الملاحة في مضيق هرمز تشمل إزالة الألغام، مؤكداً أن بلاده تسعى للحصول على التزام إيراني بعدم استهداف السفن في المضيق. وأشار نائب الرئيس الأمريكي إلى أنه تم إحراز بعض التقدم في المفاوضات الإيرانية خلال الأيام القليلة الماضية.

The officials pointed out to the newspaper that America has exhausted its stock of air defense missiles in response to the massive numbers of missiles launched by Iran to the extent that the United States has postponed the delivery of weapon orders to European and Asian clients, indicating that Russia and China are closely monitoring their stockpiles of long-range missiles, and that the decline in American firepower in Europe and Asia has raised concerns among military and intelligence circles.
American officials added that the war in Iran has prompted the Department of Defense to withdraw ships, aircraft, and air defense systems from various parts of Europe and Asia and transfer them to the Middle East, which may pose challenges regarding maintenance and troop morale, as well as leading to a depletion of American capabilities in the areas from which weapons and forces have been withdrawn, which could have future repercussions.
The newspaper mentioned that U.S. forces in South Korea have become vulnerable after defensive assets were directed to the Middle East.
The New York Times quoted a Pentagon spokesperson as saying that reports of a shortage of weapons are incorrect and that we have everything necessary to carry out any strike.
Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance confirmed today that his country is focused on ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Vance stated in remarks to reporters: The United States is now focused on ensuring the passage of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz, noting that "negotiations with Iran are still halfway through."
He pointed out that Washington is working on a plan for navigation in the Strait of Hormuz that includes mine removal, emphasizing that his country seeks to obtain an Iranian commitment not to target ships in the strait. The U.S. Vice President indicated that some progress has been made in the Iranian negotiations over the past few days.
