حمّل الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية أحمد أبو الغيط، إسرائيل المسؤولية الكاملة عن التصعيد العسكري في قطاع غزة والضفة الغربية، معتبراً أن الهجمات الأخيرة تقوض جهود التهدئة والوساطة، وتهدد فرص تنفيذ اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار.
إدانة الهجمات
واستنكر أبو الغيط -في بيان- الهجمات الإسرائيلية التي استهدفت خياماً للنازحين وشققاً سكنية في قطاع غزة، مؤكداً أنها أسفرت عن سقوط عشرات القتلى والجرحى، وتمثل تصعيداً خطيراً يزيد من تدهور الأوضاع الإنسانية في القطاع.
تقويض جهود التهدئة
وأوضح أن العمليات العسكرية في غزة تتزامن مع حملة إسرائيلية موسعة في الضفة الغربية، تشمل عمليات هدم واعتقالات في عدد من المدن، معتبراً أن هذه التحركات تعكس محاولة لإفشال مسار التهدئة وخارطة الطريق المعلنة للانتقال إلى المرحلة الثانية من اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار، بما يشمل إنهاء معاناة الفلسطينيين في غزة والبدء في الانسحاب الإسرائيلي من القطاع.
دعوة للمحاسبة
وشدد الأمين العام لجامعة الدول العربية على ضرورة تحميل إسرائيل المسؤولية عن الانتهاكات المرتكبة بحق الفلسطينيين، مؤكداً أن محاولات تقويض جهود الوساطة لا ينبغي أن تمر دون مساءلة، وداعياً المجتمع الدولي إلى التحرك لوقف التصعيد وحماية فرص تنفيذ اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار.
تحذير من اتساع الصراع
وأكد أبو الغيط أن المجتمع الدولي يجب ألا يسمح بتمديد أو توسيع الاحتلال في قطاع غزة، معتبراً أن استمرار العمليات العسكرية يخدم أجندات داخلية من شأنها إطالة أمد الصراع وتقويض فرص التوصل إلى تسوية سياسية.
تمسك بحل الدولتين
وجددت جامعة الدول العربية تأكيدها على ضرورة الالتزام بالقانون الدولي والقانون الدولي الإنساني، ورفض استهداف المدنيين أو تهجيرهم قسراً، داعية إلى تحرك دولي فاعل يضمن وقف العمليات العسكرية، وحماية السكان المدنيين، وإحياء المسار السياسي على أساس حل الدولتين، بوصفه السبيل لتحقيق سلام عادل ودائم في المنطقة.
The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, held Israel fully responsible for the military escalation in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, considering that the recent attacks undermine efforts for calm and mediation, and threaten the chances of implementing the ceasefire agreement.
Condemnation of the Attacks
Aboul Gheit condemned - in a statement - the Israeli attacks that targeted tents for displaced persons and residential apartments in the Gaza Strip, confirming that they resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries, and represent a serious escalation that exacerbates the humanitarian situation in the region.
Undermining Efforts for Calm
He explained that the military operations in Gaza coincide with an extensive Israeli campaign in the West Bank, including demolition operations and arrests in several cities, considering that these movements reflect an attempt to thwart the path to calm and the announced roadmap for moving to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, which includes ending the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and beginning the Israeli withdrawal from the region.
Call for Accountability
The Secretary-General of the Arab League emphasized the necessity of holding Israel accountable for the violations committed against Palestinians, affirming that attempts to undermine mediation efforts should not go unchallenged, and calling on the international community to act to stop the escalation and protect the chances of implementing the ceasefire agreement.
Warning Against the Expansion of the Conflict
Aboul Gheit affirmed that the international community must not allow the prolongation or expansion of the occupation in the Gaza Strip, considering that the continuation of military operations serves internal agendas that would prolong the conflict and undermine the chances of reaching a political settlement.
Commitment to the Two-State Solution
The Arab League reiterated its commitment to adhering to international law and international humanitarian law, and rejecting the targeting of civilians or their forcible displacement, calling for effective international action to ensure the cessation of military operations, protect civilian populations, and revive the political process based on the two-state solution, as the way to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.
