وقالت ليفيت: «إن الادعاء بفقدان الرئيس أعصابه كاذب تماماً». وكانت شبكة «إن بي سي» قالت إن ترمب عبر عن غضبه أمام كبار مسؤولي الأمن القومي خلال اجتماع أمني في البيت الأبيض بسبب تعثر التوصل إلى اتفاق مع طهران.
وأفادت الشبكة، التي نقلت عن مصادر مطلعة على كواليس الاجتماع، بأن ترمب خلال الجلسة صرخ معبراً عن استيائه الشديد من الخيارات العسكرية المحدودة المطروحة أمامه، وعدم تحقيق أيّ تقدم ملموس نحو التوصل إلى اتفاق مع إيران.
وقال مسؤول أمريكي مشارك في المناقشات إن ترمب شعر بالإحباط العميق بعد سلسلة من الانتصارات التكتيكية التي لم تترجم إلى مكاسب إستراتيجية واضحة، مبيناً أن الرئيس الأمريكي لم يكن يتوقع صعوبة إقناع طهران بالموافقة على اتفاق، ولم يكن ينوي تحول الحملة إلى حرب طويلة الأمد.
وأشار تقرير الشبكة إلى أن الإدارة الأمريكية تفتقر إلى إستراتيجية واضحة بشأن مدة العمليات أو الخطوات اللازمة لإنهائها، مؤكدة وجود خلاف عميق داخل الإدارة الأمريكية حول الهدف الرئيسي للحرب. ويشدد بعض المسؤولين على ضرورة التركيز على منع إيران من امتلاك أسلحة نووية، بينما يؤكد آخرون على ضمان حرية الملاحة في مضيق هرمز، أو تدمير منظومات الصواريخ والطائرات المسيرة.
بدورها، ذكرت شبكة فوكس أن ترمب درس خيار التصعيد على نطاق واسع ضد إيران.
من جهتها، أعلنت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية (سنتكوم) اليوم أنها ضربت عشرات الأهداف التابعة للحرس الثوري في إيران، بما في ذلك مراكز قيادة عسكرية ومنشآت صواريخ وطائرات مسيرة ومواقع مراقبة ودفاع ساحلية وقدرات بحرية.

The network, which cited sources familiar with the meeting's details, reported that Trump shouted during the session, expressing his deep frustration with the limited military options available to him and the lack of any tangible progress towards reaching an agreement with Iran.
An American official involved in the discussions said that Trump felt profound frustration after a series of tactical victories that did not translate into clear strategic gains, indicating that the U.S. president did not expect the difficulty of convincing Tehran to agree to a deal and did not intend for the campaign to turn into a long-term war.
The network's report noted that the U.S. administration lacks a clear strategy regarding the duration of operations or the necessary steps to conclude them, emphasizing a deep disagreement within the U.S. administration over the main objective of the war. Some officials stress the need to focus on preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, while others emphasize ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz or destroying missile and drone systems.
For its part, Fox News reported that Trump considered the option of escalating actions against Iran extensively.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today that it struck dozens of targets belonging to the Revolutionary Guard in Iran, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, surveillance sites, coastal defense, and naval capabilities.
