أعلنت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية (سنتكوم)، اليوم (الأحد)، العثور على بقايا الجندي المفقود ومقتل جندي آخر في شمال العراق أمس (السبت).
وقالت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية في بيان على حسابها في «إكس»: «أُعلن أمس عن وفاة اثنين من أعضاء الخدمة الأمريكيين، وعن حالة مفقود واحد في الأردن، بعد هجوم إيراني (الجمعة)، وبعد بحث شامل، عثرت قوات الجيش الأمريكي على بقايا غير محددة الهوية في الموقع في وقت سابق اليوم»، موضحة أنه جارٍ عملية فحص للتحقق من هذه البقايا.
وأشارت إلى أنه في حدث منفصل، قُتل عضو خدمة أمريكي في شمال العراق (السبت)، أثناء تفجير خاضع للسيطرة للذخيرة غير المنفجرة من طائرة دون طيار إيرانية هجومية أحادية الاتجاه سقطت، وأُصيب عضو خدمة ثانٍ بجرح ويستمر في تلقي العلاج الطبي لإصابة طفيفة.
وذكرت «سنتكوم»: تحتفظ القيادة المركزية الأمريكية بمعلومات إضافية، بما في ذلك هويات المحاربين المفقودين والقتلى، احتراماً للعائلات أثناء عملية الإخطار.
من جهة أخرى، أفاد التلفزيون الإيراني أن وزير الداخلية الإيراني إسكندر مؤمني سيبدأ زيارة إلى العاصمة الباكستانية إسلام آباد، غداً (الإثنين)، للقاء مسؤولين باكستانيين، حسبما ذكر التلفزيون الإيراني، ومن المرجح أن تهدف الزيارة لإحياء الجهود الباكستانية لوقف التصعيد.
وقال التلفزيون الإيراني إن صاروخاً أمريكياً أصاب منطقة على أطراف مدينة عبادان في محافظة خوزستان جنوب غربي إيران، ونقل التلفزيون عن نائب محافظ خوزستان قوله إن الصاروخ سقط خارج الحدود العمرانية للمدينة، دون تسجيل إصابات بشرية.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today (Sunday) the discovery of the remains of a missing soldier and the death of another soldier in northern Iraq yesterday (Saturday).
CENTCOM stated in a statement on its account on "X": "Yesterday, the deaths of two U.S. service members were announced, along with one missing person in Jordan, following an Iranian attack (on Friday). After a thorough search, U.S. Army forces found unidentified remains at the site earlier today," clarifying that an examination process is underway to verify these remains.
It noted that in a separate incident, a U.S. service member was killed in northern Iraq (Saturday) while conducting a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone, and a second service member was injured and continues to receive medical treatment for a minor injury.
CENTCOM mentioned: The U.S. Central Command is holding additional information, including the identities of the missing and deceased warriors, out of respect for the families during the notification process.
On another note, Iranian television reported that Iranian Interior Minister Iskandar Momeni will begin a visit to the Pakistani capital Islamabad tomorrow (Monday) to meet with Pakistani officials, according to Iranian television, and the visit is likely aimed at reviving Pakistani efforts to de-escalate tensions.
Iranian television reported that an American missile struck an area on the outskirts of the city of Abadan in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran, and the television quoted the deputy governor of Khuzestan as saying that the missile fell outside the urban boundaries of the city, with no human casualties reported.
