نفى وزير الاتصال الحكومي المتحدث باسم الحكومة الأردنية الدكتور محمد المومني الأنباء التي ترددت حول إخلاء مطار العقبة والميناء، مؤكداً أنهما يعملان بشكل طبيعي، لافتاً إلى أن أي مخاطر محتملة يتم التحذير بشأنها من قبل الجهات الأردنية المختصة. وأعلن المومني أن السلطات المعنية لم تصدر أي قرارات بإخلاء مطار العقبة أو الميناء. وأكد أنه لم يسجل لدى الجهات الأردنية المختصة تهديدات محتملة خلال الساعات الماضية، بحسب ما نقلت عنه وكالة الأنباء الأردنية (بترا).
وكانت السفارة الأمريكية في الأردن أعلنت، اليوم (الأحد)، إخلاء مطار وميناء العقبة الدوليين جنوب المملكة؛ بسبب «تهديد محدد وموثوق». وأفادت السفارة في بيان «ننصح بشدة جميع الأمريكيين بتجنّب السفر إلى المطار أو الميناء، ونحثهم على مواصلة اتباع جميع التوجيهات الأمنية الصادرة عن السلطات الأردنية».
وفيما لم تقدم السفارة مزيداً من التفاصيل عن طبيعة التهديد، نفى مدير عام شركة موانئ العقبة تعرّض الميناء للإغلاق. وقال لوكالة «رويترز» إن الميناء يعمل والبواخر موجودة كالعادة ولا يوجد أي إغلاق أو إخلاء.
يذكر أن جنديين أمريكيين قتلا في الأردن بقصف إيراني، (الجمعة)، بحسب ما أعلنت قيادة القوات الأمريكية المركزية «سنتكوم»، أمس (السبت)، وهما أول قتيلين أمريكيين منذ استئناف الأعمال القتالية في السابع من يوليو.
The Minister of Government Communication and spokesperson for the Jordanian government, Dr. Mohammed Al-Momani, denied the news circulating about the evacuation of Aqaba Airport and the port, confirming that they are operating normally, noting that any potential risks are being warned about by the relevant Jordanian authorities. Al-Momani announced that the concerned authorities have not issued any decisions to evacuate Aqaba Airport or the port. He confirmed that no potential threats have been recorded by the relevant Jordanian authorities in the past hours, according to what the Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.
The American embassy in Jordan announced today (Sunday) the evacuation of Aqaba International Airport and port in the south of the kingdom due to a "specific and credible threat." The embassy stated in a release, "We strongly advise all Americans to avoid traveling to the airport or the port, and we urge them to continue following all security directives issued by the Jordanian authorities."
While the embassy did not provide further details about the nature of the threat, the Director General of Aqaba Ports Company denied that the port was closed. He told Reuters that the port is operating and ships are present as usual, and there is no closure or evacuation.
It is worth mentioning that two American soldiers were killed in Jordan by Iranian shelling on Friday, according to what the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced yesterday (Saturday), marking the first American fatalities since the resumption of hostilities on July 7.
