كشفت تقارير إسرائيلية أن تل أبيب عرضت على واشنطن الانضمام إلى الهجمات الأمريكية الجديدة على إيران، إلا أن إدارة الرئيس دونالد ترمب رفضت انخراطها. واعتبر مسؤول إسرائيلي أن انخراط بلاده في الحرب سيعتمد على رد إيران، فإذا استهدفت إسرائيل، فمن المرجح أن تتدخل في الحرب.
وأكد المسؤول استعداد تل أبيب لاحتمال استهدافها من طهران ليس فقط بالصواريخ والطائرات المسيّرة، بل أيضًا عبر تفعيل وكلائها بالمنطقة. وشدد على وجود حالة من التأهب داخل إسرائيل وخارجها خصوصًا بعد إنهاء مذكرة التفاهم بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران. وأعلن الجيش الأمريكي، فجر اليوم (الأحد)، شن ضربات جوية جديدة ردًا على الهجمات الإيرانية ضد قواته في الأردن التي أسفرت عن مقتل جنديين أمريكيين، لأول مرة منذ تجدد الأعمال العدائية مع طهران. وأفاد بيان للقيادة المركزية الأمريكية «سنتكوم» أن الغارات تستهدف تقويض قدرة إيران على تهديد الملاحة التجارية في مضيق هرمز، ومعاقبة قوات الحرس الثوري بشكل فوري على الهجمات التي شنتها ضد أفراد الخدمة الأمريكيين في الأردن الليلة الماضية. وأوضح انتهاء ثامن موجة على التوالي من الضربات على إيران، التي استهدفت منشآت المراقبة الساحلية والدفاع الجوي العسكرية الإيرانية. وشنت إيران، (السبت)، المزيد من الهجمات على دول خليجية والأردن، فيما توعّد المرشد الإيراني مجتبى خامنئي في رسالة مكتوبة بتلقين الولايات المتحدة «دروسًا لا تُنسى»، مؤكدًا أن توقيع الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب «بلا قيمة ولاغٍ»، وفق قوله. وانهار الاتفاق المؤقت المبرم الشهر الماضي لإنهاء الحرب منذ السابع من يوليو، عندما استهدفت طهران سفنًا في مضيق هرمز، وردت الولايات المتحدة بتنفيذ غارات جوية على إيران. ومنذ ذلك الحين أعلنت طهران إغلاق المضيق، فيما عاودت واشنطن فرض حصارها على الموانئ الإيرانية.

The U.S. military announced early today (Sunday) that it had launched new airstrikes in response to Iranian attacks against its forces in Jordan, which resulted in the deaths of two American soldiers, marking the first time since hostilities with Tehran resumed. A statement from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) indicated that the airstrikes aim to undermine Iran's ability to threaten commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and to punish the Revolutionary Guard forces immediately for the attacks they carried out against American service members in Jordan last night. It clarified the conclusion of the eighth consecutive wave of strikes on Iran, which targeted Iranian coastal surveillance and military air defense facilities. Iran launched more attacks on Gulf countries and Jordan on Saturday, while Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei threatened in a written message to teach the United States "unforgettable lessons," asserting that President Donald Trump's signature is "worthless and null," according to him. The temporary agreement reached last month to end the war collapsed on July 7 when Tehran targeted ships in the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States responded with airstrikes on Iran. Since then, Tehran has announced the closure of the strait, while Washington has resumed its blockade on Iranian ports.
