كشف مسؤول في البيت الأبيض، اليوم (الأحد)، أبرز الملفات المطروحة على جدول أعمال قمة حلف شمال الأطلسي (الناتو)، المقرر عقدها يومي الثلاثاء والأربعاء في أنقرة.
وقال المسؤول إن قضية مضيق هرمز وحماية الملاحة البحرية ستكون من أبرز الملفات التي سيناقشها قادة الحلف، مضيفاً: «صحيح أن العديد من الحلفاء أبدوا استعدادهم للمشاركة وتسخير قدراتهم لحماية الملاحة عبر مضيق هرمز، لكن المشكلة تكمن في امتلاك القدرات اللازمة، إذ إن كثيراً منهم يفتقرون إلى السفن أو الأصول البحرية الضرورية للمساهمة بفاعلية في أي جهد بحري».
وأشار إلى أن الولايات المتحدة تحث حلفاءها على تعزيز قدراتهم العسكرية والاضطلاع بدور أكثر فاعلية في الدفاع عن أنفسهم، بما يعزز منظومة الدفاع الجماعي للحلف.
وفي تطور ميداني، أعلنت هيئة عمليات التجارة البحرية البريطانية اليوم تلقيها بلاغاً عن حادثة وقعت على بعد 30 ميلاً بحرياً جنوب غربي مدينة الحديدة اليمنية، بعدما أطلقت سفينة شحن نداء استغاثة أفادت فيه بأنها تتعرض لهجوم من مسلحين مجهولين.
وأضافت الهيئة أن السلطات المختصة تحقق في الحادثة، داعية السفن إلى توخي الحذر أثناء العبور والإبلاغ عن أي أنشطة مشبوهة.
من جانبه، أكد رئيس البرلمان الإيراني محمد باقر قاليباف أنه «لا سلام بيننا وبين الولايات المتحدة، ولن نعترف بإسرائيل»، مشدداً على أن المسار الدبلوماسي يجب أن يكون قادراً على تثبيت وتعزيز ما وصفه بـ«إنجازات الميدان».
وأشار قاليباف إلى أن تنفيذ التفاهم مع الولايات المتحدة «صعب، لكنه ممكن»، معتبراً الولايات المتحدة «طرفاً غير موثوق به».
A U.S. official revealed today (Sunday) the key issues on the agenda for the NATO summit, scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday in Ankara.
The official stated that the issue of the Strait of Hormuz and the protection of maritime navigation will be among the main topics discussed by the alliance's leaders, adding: "It is true that many allies have expressed their willingness to participate and leverage their capabilities to protect navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, but the problem lies in having the necessary capabilities, as many of them lack the ships or the necessary maritime assets to effectively contribute to any naval effort."
He noted that the United States is urging its allies to enhance their military capabilities and take a more active role in defending themselves, which would strengthen the alliance's collective defense system.
In a field development, the British Maritime Trade Operations agency announced today that it received a report about an incident that occurred 30 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni city of Hodeidah, after a cargo ship issued a distress call indicating that it was under attack by unknown armed assailants.
The agency added that the relevant authorities are investigating the incident, urging vessels to exercise caution while transiting and to report any suspicious activities.
For his part, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf confirmed that "there is no peace between us and the United States, and we will not recognize Israel," emphasizing that the diplomatic path must be able to solidify and enhance what he described as "field achievements."
Qalibaf pointed out that implementing the understanding with the United States is "difficult, but possible," considering the United States to be "an unreliable party."
