أكد الرئيس المصري عبد الفتاح السيسي، أن بلاده لم تستخدم يوماً قضية اللاجئين لتحقيق أهداف سياسية، مشددًا على أهمية تفعيل مبدأ تقاسم الأعباء والمسؤوليات وزيادة الدعم الدولي الموجه إلى مصر، فضلًا عن دعم المنظومة الوطنية الجديدة الجاري استكمال أطرها التنفيذية للتعامل مع قضايا اللجوء.
ودعا السيسي، خلال لقاء المفوض السامي للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، اليوم (الخميس)، إلى تبني منظور شامل لمعالجة ظاهرة اللجوء والنزوح، يستهدف معالجة أسبابها الجذرية، بما في ذلك الأزمات السياسية والأمنية والتحديات الاقتصادية، بما يساهم في تحقيق التنمية المستدامة وتعزيز السلم والاستقرار في دول المنشأ.
وقال متحدث الرئاسة المصرية السفير محمد الشناوي، إن السيسي رحّب بزيارة المفوض السامي إلى مصر، مهنئًا إياه على توليه منصبه الجديد مطلع العام الحالي.
وأكد السيسي اعتزاز مصر بالتعاون القائم مع المفوضية السامية للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين في توفير الحماية الدولية للاجئين وملتمسي اللجوء المقيمين في مصر، وإدارة عملية اللجوء وفقًا للقانون الوطني المنظم لهذا الشأن، مشدداً على استعداد مصر لمواصلة هذا التعاون بما يعزز التضامن الدولي ويدعم اللاجئين.
وأشار إلى أن السيسي استعرض الجهود التي بذلتها مصر من خلال استضافتها لأكثر من عشرة ملايين ونصف المليون أجنبي ومهاجر ولاجئ من جنسيات مختلفة، على خلفية العديد من الأزمات الدولية والإقليمية، مؤكدًا حرص الدولة على توفير الخدمات الأساسية لهم في حدود قدراتها، مع ضمان احترام القوانين المصرية والتزاماتها الدولية.
وذكر أن المفوض السامي للأمم المتحدة أكد حرص المفوضية على تعزيز تعاونها الممتد مع الحكومة المصرية في توفير الحماية للاجئين ودعم المجتمعات المستضيفة.
كما أشاد بالجهود التي بذلتها مصر في استضافة ملايين الأجانب والمهاجرين واللاجئين، معربًا عن تقدير المفوضية للأعباء التي تحملتها الدولة المصرية لضمان استدامة الخدمات المقدمة لهم.
وأكد المفوض ضرورة تعزيز الدعم الدولي بما يتناسب مع حجم هذه الجهود، مشدداً في هذا الصدد على أن الأعباء الملقاة على مصر جسيمة، وأنه يتعين وجود دعم حقيقي ومشاركة فعلية في المسؤوليات المرتبطة باستضافة الأجانب والمهاجرين واللاجئين.
وفي السياق ذاته، أكد المفوض السامي الدور الجوهري الذي تضطلع به مصر ورئيسها في تحقيق الاستقرار الإقليمي، مشيرًا إلى أن مصر تمثل نقطة ارتكاز محورية وثابتة تاريخيًا في المنطقة.
كما رحب المفوض السامي برهم صالح، بالخطوات التي اتخذتها الدولة المصرية لتدشين منظومة اللجوء الوطنية الجديدة، مثمنًا إنشاء اللجنة الدائمة لشؤون اللاجئين، ومؤكدًا استعداد المفوضية لتقديم كافة أوجه الدعم لهذه الجهود.
وأطلع المسؤول الأممي السيسي على رؤيته لعمل المفوضية خلال المرحلة القادمة في ظل تفاقم التحديات العالمية المرتبطة باللجوء، مشيرًا إلى إستراتيجية المفوضية التي تستهدف تقليص أعداد اللاجئين عالميًا، ومعربًا عن تطلعه لمواصلة التعاون مع مصر في هذا الصدد، خصوصاً في ظل دورها المحوري في مختلف القضايا الإقليمية والدولية.
The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi affirmed that his country has never used the issue of refugees to achieve political goals, emphasizing the importance of activating the principle of burden and responsibility sharing and increasing international support directed to Egypt, in addition to supporting the new national system that is currently completing its executive frameworks to address refugee issues.
During a meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees today (Thursday), El-Sisi called for adopting a comprehensive perspective to address the phenomenon of asylum and displacement, targeting the root causes, including political and security crises and economic challenges, which contribute to achieving sustainable development and enhancing peace and stability in the countries of origin.
Egyptian presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy stated that El-Sisi welcomed the High Commissioner's visit to Egypt, congratulating him on assuming his new position at the beginning of this year.
El-Sisi confirmed Egypt's pride in the ongoing cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in providing international protection for refugees and asylum seekers residing in Egypt, and managing the asylum process in accordance with the national law governing this matter, stressing Egypt's readiness to continue this cooperation to enhance international solidarity and support for refugees.
He pointed out that El-Sisi reviewed the efforts made by Egypt in hosting more than ten and a half million foreigners, migrants, and refugees of various nationalities, against the backdrop of many international and regional crises, emphasizing the state's keenness to provide basic services to them within its capabilities, while ensuring respect for Egyptian laws and its international obligations.
He mentioned that the UN High Commissioner confirmed the Commission's commitment to enhancing its ongoing cooperation with the Egyptian government in providing protection for refugees and supporting host communities.
He also praised the efforts made by Egypt in hosting millions of foreigners, migrants, and refugees, expressing the Commission's appreciation for the burdens borne by the Egyptian state to ensure the sustainability of the services provided to them.
The Commissioner emphasized the necessity of enhancing international support commensurate with the scale of these efforts, stressing in this regard that the burdens placed on Egypt are significant, and there must be real support and active participation in the responsibilities associated with hosting foreigners, migrants, and refugees.
In this context, the High Commissioner affirmed the crucial role played by Egypt and its president in achieving regional stability, noting that Egypt represents a pivotal and historically stable focal point in the region.
The High Commissioner also welcomed the steps taken by the Egyptian state to launch the new national asylum system, appreciating the establishment of the Permanent Committee for Refugee Affairs, and confirming the Commission's readiness to provide all forms of support for these efforts.
The UN official briefed El-Sisi on his vision for the Commission's work in the coming phase amid the worsening global challenges related to asylum, pointing to the Commission's strategy aimed at reducing the number of refugees globally, and expressing his hope to continue cooperation with Egypt in this regard, especially given its pivotal role in various regional and international issues.
