The city of Midland in Texas, USA, witnessed a tragic shooting incident on Friday that resulted in one person dead and several others injured, before the confrontation ended with the attacker being killed.

According to reports from the Associated Press, a gunman opened fire inside an industrial area near West Wall Street, causing at least one fatality and injuring between 9 to 10 people.

Meanwhile, social media users circulated videos documenting the shocking first moments of the gunfire at the scene. For its part, local authorities in Midland quickly issued a statement reassuring the public, confirming "complete control of the situation and the death of the suspect." The authorities added that a security perimeter is still in place at the incident site, noting that surrounding roads will continue to be closed in the coming period to complete investigations and understand the circumstances of the attack.
