دعت السفارة الأمريكية في لندن مواطنيها المقيمين في المملكة المتحدة إلى توخي أعلى درجات الحيطة في الأماكن العامة، والتحلي بالهدوء، مع مراجعة خططهم الأمنية الشخصية بشكل منتظم.
ويأتي هذا التحذير عقب إعلان السلطات البريطانية رفع مستوى التهديد الإرهابي في البلاد إلى ثاني أعلى درجة، في خطوة تعكس تصاعد المخاوف الأمنية.
وأوضحت السفارة، في بيان رسمي، أن الزيادة الأخيرة في مستوى التهديد تعود إلى تنامي نشاط جماعات متشددة، إلى جانب تصاعد تحركات تيارات يمينية متطرفة داخل بريطانيا.
وكانت الحكومة البريطانية قد رفعت مستوى التهديد من «كبير» إلى «شديد» الخميس، في أعقاب حادثة طعن ذات دوافع معادية للسامية وقعت شمال لندن في وقت سابق من الأسبوع.
ويعني هذا التصنيف أن احتمالية وقوع هجوم إرهابي خلال الأشهر الستة القادمة باتت مرتفعة بشكل ملحوظ.

This warning comes after British authorities announced an increase in the country's terrorist threat level to the second highest grade, a move reflecting rising security concerns.
The embassy clarified in an official statement that the recent increase in the threat level is due to the growing activity of extremist groups, along with the rising movements of far-right factions within Britain.
The British government had raised the threat level from "Substantial" to "Severe" on Thursday, following an anti-Semitic stabbing incident that occurred in North London earlier in the week.
This classification means that the likelihood of a terrorist attack occurring in the next six months has significantly increased.
