The U.S. Central Command "CENTCOM" revealed that elements of the Marine Corps launched from the amphibious assault ship "USS Tripoli" via helicopters and executed an air drop over the Arabian Sea to board and take control of the vessel.

CENTCOM explained that the guided-missile destroyer "USS Spruance" intercepted the ship "MV Tosca" while it was crossing the northern Arabian Sea at a speed of 17 knots, on its way to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas.
