استأنفت باكستان جهودها لإعادة مسار المفاوضات الأمريكية - الإيرانية في إسلام آباد، من خلال زيارة لقائد الجيش الباكستاني المشير عاصم منير لطهران، في ظل العد التنازلي للمهلة التي حددها الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لتدمير حضارة إيران الأسبوع الماضي، ونجح قائد أركان الجيش مع رئيس الوزراء شهباز شريف في التوسط للتوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار أخيراً، في ظل مساعٍ حثيثة جديدة لضمان تنظيم جولة ثانية من المحادثات.
وقالت مصادر مطلعة باكستانية لـ«عكاظ»: «المباحثات التي أجراها قائد أركان الجيش المشير عاصم منير تأتي استكمالاً للمحادثات التي أُجريت في إسلام آباد، وتهدف لتمديد وقف إطلاق النار لفترة جديدة، ضماناً لجلوس الوفدين وجهاً لوجه للمرة الثانية، مستفيدة من الزخم الذي تحظى به باكستان منذ أسابيع كوسيط مهم مقبول من الطرفين».
وأضافت المصادر: «المشير عاصم منير حمل إجابات إيجابية للجانب الأمريكي حيال بنود كانت محل جدل من الجانب الإيراني»، مشيرة إلى أن المشير عاصم منير أجرى مباحثات مستفيضة مع رئيس البرلمان الإيراني قاليباف ووزير الخارجية عراقجي.
ونجحت باكستان في إظهار قدرتها على إحداث تغيير إيجابي في المشهد الإقليمي، وأن يكون لها تأثير ونفوذ في الساحة العالمية.
وحرصت باكستان على عدم الانحياز إلى أي من واشنطن وطهران بعد اندلاع الحرب الأمريكية الإيرانية. وتحسنت علاقات باكستان مع واشنطن بصورة لافتة بعدما أشادت إسلام آباد بدورها في التوسط لوضع حد لنزاعها مع الهند.
وأعقبت ذلك زيارة إلى واشنطن قام بها رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف وقائد الجيش عاصم منير، الذي بات ترمب يشير إليه حالياً على أنه «المشير المفضل» لديه.
واستضافت باكستان المحادثات الأمريكية - الإيرانية التي استمرت 21 ساعة في إسلام آباد، الأسبوع الماضي، مع استمرار التباينات في ملفات أساسية في مقدمتها البرنامج النووي الإيراني، ومضيق هرمز، وشروط وقف إطلاق النار في لبنان، وتعويضات الحرب، والأصول الإيرانية المجمدة. وجاءت هذه المفاوضات بعد هدنة أوقفت القتال الذي استمر ستة أسابيع تنتهي في 21 أبريل.
Pakistan has resumed its efforts to bring back the American-Iranian negotiation track in Islamabad, through a visit by the Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir to Tehran, amid the countdown to the deadline set by President Donald Trump last week for the destruction of Iranian civilization. The Army Chief, along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, succeeded in mediating to reach a ceasefire agreement finally, amid renewed vigorous efforts to ensure a second round of talks.
Informed Pakistani sources told "Okaz": "The discussions held by Army Chief General Asim Munir are a continuation of the talks that took place in Islamabad, aiming to extend the ceasefire for a new period, ensuring that the two delegations sit face to face for the second time, benefiting from the momentum that Pakistan has enjoyed for weeks as an important mediator accepted by both sides."
The sources added: "General Asim Munir brought positive responses for the American side regarding points that were contentious from the Iranian side," noting that General Asim Munir held extensive discussions with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Araqchi.
Pakistan has succeeded in demonstrating its ability to bring about a positive change in the regional landscape and to have an impact and influence on the global stage.
Pakistan has been keen not to take sides with either Washington or Tehran following the outbreak of the American-Iranian war. Pakistan's relations with Washington have notably improved after Islamabad praised its role in mediating to put an end to its conflict with India.
This was followed by a visit to Washington by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, whom Trump currently refers to as his "preferred General."
Pakistan hosted the 21-hour American-Iranian talks in Islamabad last week, amid ongoing differences on key issues including the Iranian nuclear program, the Strait of Hormuz, ceasefire conditions in Lebanon, war reparations, and frozen Iranian assets. These negotiations came after a truce that halted six weeks of fighting, which ends on April 21.
