Committee Chairman Congressman James Comer confirmed that Lutnick voluntarily agreed to appear for a written interview on May 6, as part of the committee's broad investigation into the crimes of Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, and their connections to influential figures.
This questioning comes after the disclosure of documents and images from Epstein's files showing a photo of Lutnick with Epstein on the private island "Little Saint James" in 2012, in addition to other communications and interactions between them after 2005, which contradict Lutnick's previous statements that he had completely severed ties with Epstein that year.
Lutnick was a former neighbor of Epstein in New York, and he acknowledged in previous testimonies before Congress that he met Epstein several times, including a family lunch on the private island in 2012 with his wife and children. However, Lutnick has repeatedly asserted that he did not have a "close relationship" with Epstein and that he was unaware of his crimes.
