بعد دقائق من تحذيره إيران من الإقدام على زراعة الألغام في مضيق هرمز، أعلن الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب تدمير الولايات المتحدة 10 أهداف بحرية مخصّصة لزرع الألغام.
وكتب ترمب، في منشور على منصة «تروث سوشيال»: «خلال الساعات القليلة الماضية استهدفنا ودمرنا بالكامل 10 قوارب وسفن غير نشطة مخصّصة لزرع الألغام، وهناك المزيد في الطريق».
وأوضح ترمب أن الولايات المتحدة ستتصدى لأي محاولة لزرع ألغام في مضيق هرمز، مضيفاً: «نستخدم التكنولوجيا نفسها وقدرات الصواريخ التي استُخدمت ضد مهربي المخدرات للقضاء بشكل دائم على أي قارب أو سفينة تحاول زرع ألغام في مضيق هرمز». وأشار إلى أنه سيتم التعامل معها بسرعة وبقوة شديدة.
وكانت القيادة المركزية الأمريكية قالت إن القوات تعمل على إضعاف قدرة النظام الإيراني على إظهار القوة في البحر ومضايقة حركة الملاحة الدولية.
وكان ترمب قد هدد إيران بعواقب لا مثيل لها إذا زرعت ألغاماً في مضيق هرمز الإستراتيجي.
وكتب ترمب على حسابه في «تروث سوشيال»: «إذا كانت إيران قد زرعت أي ألغام في مضيق هرمز -وليس لدينا أي تقارير تفيد بأنها فعلت ذلك- فإننا نريد إزالتها فوراً»، مشدداً بالقول: «إذا وُضعت ألغام لأي سبب ولم يتم نزعها على الفور، فإن العواقب العسكرية على إيران ستكون بمستوى لم يُشهد من قبل». وأضاف: «أما إذا قامت، من جهة أخرى، بإزالة ما قد يكون قد وُضع، فسيكون ذلك خطوة كبيرة في الاتجاه الصحيح».
وكانت وسائل إعلام أمريكية قالت إن المخابرات الأمريكية رصدت تحركات إيرانية لتلغيم مضيق هرمز الإستراتيجي.
Minutes after warning Iran against laying mines in the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the destruction of 10 maritime targets designated for mine-laying by the United States.
Trump wrote in a post on the "Truth Social" platform: "In the past few hours, we targeted and completely destroyed 10 inactive boats and ships designated for mine-laying, and there are more on the way."
Trump clarified that the United States will counter any attempt to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz, adding: "We are using the same technology and missile capabilities that were used against drug traffickers to permanently eliminate any boat or ship attempting to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz." He noted that they will be dealt with swiftly and with great force.
The U.S. Central Command had stated that the forces are working to weaken the Iranian regime's ability to project power at sea and harass international shipping.
Trump had threatened Iran with unprecedented consequences if it laid mines in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
Trump wrote on his "Truth Social" account: "If Iran has laid any mines in the Strait of Hormuz - and we have no reports that it has done so - we want them removed immediately," emphasizing: "If mines are laid for any reason and are not removed immediately, the military consequences for Iran will be at a level never seen before." He added: "However, if it does, on the other hand, remove what may have been laid, that would be a significant step in the right direction."
U.S. media had reported that American intelligence had detected Iranian movements to mine the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
