جدّد الرئيس اللبناني جوزيف عون، تأكيد أن لبنان لا يسعى إلى الحرب، بل يعمل على حفظ الأمن وحماية الحدود وبسط سيادة الدولة.
مساعدة الجيش اللبناني
وقال عون، خلال استقبال وزير الدفاع الإيطالي غويدو كروسيتو، في قصر بعبدا، اليوم(الإثنين): إن لبنان يرحب بمشاركة إيطاليا ودول أوروبية أخرى في أي قوة تحل محل القوات الدولية العاملة في الجنوب «اليونيفيل» بعد اكتمال انسحابها عام 2027، لمساعدة الجيش اللبناني في حفظ الأمن والاستقرار على الحدود الجنوبية، بعد انسحاب القوات الإسرائيلية من الأراضي التي تحتلها.
وأضاف عون أن خيار التفاوض الذي اعتمده لبنان، والذي كلف سفيراً سابقاً بترؤس الوفد اللبناني في لجنة "الميكانيزم"، يهدف إلى وقف الأعمال العدائية، تحقيق الانسحاب الإسرائيلي، إعادة الأسرى المعتقلين في إسرائيل، وإعادة السكان الجنوبيين إلى قراهم وممتلكاتهم.
بانتظار خطوات إيجابية
ولفت إلى أن لبنان ينتظر خطوات إيجابية من الجانب الإسرائيلي، ويعتمد على دول صديقة مثل إيطاليا للدفع باتجاه إنجاح العملية التفاوضية والوصول إلى نتائج ملموسة.
وأكد عون أن لبنان لا يسعى إلى الحرب، بل يعمل على حفظ الأمن وحماية الحدود وبسط سيادة الدولة، وهي مهمات يجب ان يتولاها الجيش اللبناني بالتعاون مع الدول الصديقة الراغبة في مساعدته. وقال إن التجارب السابقة أظهرت أن النزاعات العسكرية لا تؤدي إلى حلول دائمة، وأن التفاوض يبقى الخيار الوحيد في نهاية المطاف.
ركيزة أساسية للاستقرار
وأكد عون أن الجيش اللبناني يشكل الركيزة الأساسية للاستقرار، ليس في لبنان فقط، بل في المنطقة؛ نظراً لتأثرها المباشر بالوضع الأمني اللبناني. وشدّد على أهمية دعم الجيش؛ نظراً لتعدد مهماته التي تشمل كامل الأراضي اللبنانية وليس الحدود فقط، لافتاً إلى أن أي مساعدة تقدمها الحكومة الإيطالية للجيش اللبناني والقوى المسلحة اللبنانية تلقى تقدير الدولة اللبنانية.
التوتر لا يخدم أحد
من جهته، أكد وزير الدفاع الإيطالي دعم بلاده للبنان خصوصاً في مجال حفظ الأمن والاستقرار في الجنوب. وأعلن رغبة إيطاليا في إبقاء قوات لها في منطقة العمليات الدولية جنوب الليطاني بعد انسحاب اليونيفيل، لافتا إلى أن دولاً أوروبية أخرى تتجه إلى اتخاذ الموقف نفسه؛ بهدف دعم الجيش اللبناني في تنفيذ مهماته.
وأفاد بأن بلاده تعتبر أن أمن لبنان والمنطقة والبحر المتوسط يرتبط بتعزيز دور الجيش اللبناني وتوفير الإمكانات اللازمة له، مؤكداً استمرار الاتصالات لتثبيت الاستقرار في الجنوب، ومتابعة مسار التفاوض الذي بدأه لبنان، والعمل على تحقيق نتائج عملية. وحذّر من أن استمرار التوتر لا يخدم مصلحة أي طرف، وعلى إسرائيل أن تدرك ذلك.

Assistance to the Lebanese Army
Aoun stated, during his meeting with Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto at the Baabda Palace today (Monday), that Lebanon welcomes the participation of Italy and other European countries in any force that will replace the international forces operating in the south, "UNIFIL," after their complete withdrawal in 2027, to assist the Lebanese army in maintaining security and stability along the southern borders, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied territories.
He added that the negotiation option adopted by Lebanon, which tasked a former ambassador with leading the Lebanese delegation in the "mechanism" committee, aims to stop hostilities, achieve the Israeli withdrawal, secure the release of prisoners detained in Israel, and return the southern residents to their villages and properties.
Awaiting Positive Steps
He pointed out that Lebanon is waiting for positive steps from the Israeli side and relies on friendly countries like Italy to push towards the success of the negotiation process and achieve tangible results.
Aoun emphasized that Lebanon does not seek war, but works to maintain security, protect its borders, and uphold the sovereignty of the state, which are tasks that should be undertaken by the Lebanese army in cooperation with friendly countries willing to assist. He stated that previous experiences have shown that military conflicts do not lead to lasting solutions, and that negotiation remains the only option in the end.
A Fundamental Pillar for Stability
Aoun affirmed that the Lebanese army constitutes the fundamental pillar for stability, not only in Lebanon but in the region, given its direct impact on the Lebanese security situation. He stressed the importance of supporting the army, considering the multiplicity of its missions that encompass all Lebanese territory and not just the borders, noting that any assistance provided by the Italian government to the Lebanese army and armed forces is appreciated by the Lebanese state.
Tension Serves No One
For his part, the Italian Defense Minister confirmed his country's support for Lebanon, particularly in the field of maintaining security and stability in the south. He announced Italy's desire to keep its forces in the area of international operations south of the Litani River after the withdrawal of UNIFIL, pointing out that other European countries are moving towards the same position, aiming to support the Lebanese army in carrying out its missions.
He stated that his country considers the security of Lebanon, the region, and the Mediterranean Sea to be linked to enhancing the role of the Lebanese army and providing it with the necessary resources, confirming the continuation of communications to stabilize the south, follow up on the negotiation process initiated by Lebanon, and work towards achieving practical results. He warned that ongoing tension does not serve the interests of any party, and that Israel must recognize this.
