وتطورت الخلافات بين النواب إلى تبادل اللكمات، ما دفع رئيس المجلس نورمان كورتولموش إلى تعليق الجلسة. وتواصل العراك بين النواب حتى فترة الاستراحة، ما أدى إلى أضرار بمحتويات القاعة.
ودبت الخلافات إثر كلمة نائب رئيس كتلة حزب الشعب الجمهوري، جوكان جونايدين، التي أشار فيها إلى انتهاء مناقشات الموازنة التي استمرت شهرين.
وانتقد جونايدين، الذي ينتمي لحزب المعارضة الرئيسي، خطابات نواب رئيس كتلة حزب العدالة والتنمية، ورئيس لجنة الصناعة والتجارة والطاقة والموارد الطبيعية والمعلومات والتكنولوجيا، والنائب عن بورصة مصطفى فارانك. وقال إن الخطابات لم تتطرق لأوضاع المتقاعدين، وأصحاب الحرف الصغيرة، والعاملين بالحد الأدنى للأجور.
ورد جونايدين على الانتقادات الموجهة إلى مرحلة الحزب الواحد، قائلاً إنها تمثل مصطفى كمال أتاتورك، واصفاً ذلك بالشرف. ولفت إلى أن جلال بايار شغل منصب رئيس الوزراء، وأن عدنان مندريس كان نائباً في البرلمان خلال تلك الحقبة. واعتبر أن إنكار هذه الوقائع يعكس ضعفاً في الوعي التاريخي.
طلب استفزازي
من جهته، رد رئيس كتلة حزب العدالة والتنمية الحاكم عبدالله غولر، بقوله: إن حزب الشعب الجمهوري أسسه مصطفى كمال أتاتورك. وأضاف أن شخصية أخرى برزت بعده، وهي عصمت إينونو، الذي وصفه بـ«الزعيم الأبدي». وقال غولر إن إينونو أمر بإزالة صورة أتاتورك من العملات بعد وفاته بفترة وجيزة، حسب تعبيره.
واستحضر غولر حادثة تاريخية عام 1945 تتعلق بتسليم 195 لاجئاً أذربيجانيا إلى القوات السوفيتية على جسر بورالتان، وأشار إلى أن مصيرهم المجهول موثق في السجلات التاريخية.
وبعد معاودة الجلسة، تسبب طلب النائب مصطفى فارانك الكلمة بأسلوب اعتبر استفزازياً إلى تجدد الخلاف وتحوله إلى عراك داخل القاعة. واضطر رئيس المجلس إلى تعليق الجلسة مرة أخرى.
A physical altercation between deputies of the Justice and Development Party and the Republican People's Party led to the suspension of sessions in the Turkish Parliament yesterday, Sunday, just before the vote on the 2026 budget.
Damage to the contents of the hall
The disagreements among the deputies escalated into a exchange of punches, prompting the Speaker of the Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, to suspend the session. The brawl continued among the deputies until the break, resulting in damage to the contents of the hall.
The disputes arose following a speech by the Deputy Chairman of the Republican People's Party, Gökhan Günaydın, in which he referred to the end of the budget discussions that lasted for two months.
Günaydın, who belongs to the main opposition party, criticized the speeches of the deputies of the Justice and Development Party, the Chairman of the Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information, and Technology Committee, and the deputy from Bursa, Mustafa Varank. He stated that the speeches did not address the conditions of retirees, small business owners, and those working for the minimum wage.
In response to the criticisms directed at the one-party era, Günaydın said that it represents Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, describing it as an honor. He noted that Celal Bayar served as Prime Minister and that Adnan Menderes was a deputy in Parliament during that period. He considered that denying these facts reflects a weakness in historical awareness.
Provocative request
For his part, the head of the ruling Justice and Development Party group, Abdullah Güler, responded by saying that the Republican People's Party was founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. He added that another figure emerged after him, İsmet İnönü, whom he described as the "eternal leader." Güler stated that İnönü ordered the removal of Atatürk's image from the currency shortly after his death, as he put it.
Güler recalled a historical incident in 1945 concerning the handing over of 195 Azerbaijani refugees to Soviet forces at the Boraltan Bridge, noting that their unknown fate is documented in historical records.
After the session resumed, a request by Deputy Mustafa Varank to speak in a manner considered provocative led to renewed disputes and turned into a brawl inside the hall. The Speaker of the Assembly was forced to suspend the session once again.
