كشفت وسائل إعلام إسرائيلية عن اقتراح مثير للجدل قدمه وزير الأمن القومي اليميني المتطرف إيتمار بن غفير، يقضي بإنشاء سجن خاص بالأسرى الأمنيين، غالبيتهم من الفلسطينيين، يكون محاطاً بالتماسيح بهدف تعزيز الردع ومنع محاولات الهروب.
اقتراح «غير تقليدي»
ووفقاً لتقرير بثته القناة 13 الإسرائيلية، طُرح المقترح خلال جلسة تقييم أمني عقدها بن غفير مع مفوض مصلحة السجون كوبي يعقوبي، واستند الوزير في فكرته إلى نموذج سجن أمريكي في ولاية فلوريدا تحيط به مستنقعات تماسيح.
دراسة أولية داخل السجون
وأشار التقرير إلى أن مصلحة السجون الإسرائيلية تدرس الفكرة مبدئياً، دون صدور موقف رسمي حتى الآن حول إمكانية تنفيذها أو تكلفتها، في وقت تتجنب الحكومة التعليق على تفاصيل المقترح.
تصعيد ضد الأسرى

ويُعرف إيتمار بن غفير، زعيم حزب «عوتسما يهوديت» اليميني المتطرف، بمواقفه المتشددة تجاه الفلسطينيين، ودعواته المتكررة لتغليظ العقوبات وتشديد ظروف الاحتجاز، ما جعله أحد أكثر وزراء حكومة نتنياهو إثارة للجدل داخلياً ودولياً.

According to a report broadcast by Israeli Channel 13, the proposal was raised during a security assessment meeting held by Ben Gvir with the Commissioner of the Prisons Service, Kobi Yaakobi. The minister based his idea on an American prison model in Florida that is surrounded by crocodile swamps.

The report indicated that the Israeli Prisons Service is studying the idea preliminarily, with no official position issued yet regarding its feasibility or cost, while the government avoids commenting on the details of the proposal.

This proposal comes in the context of tightening Israeli policies towards Palestinian prisoners, whose numbers exceed 9,000 according to 2025 statistics, amid an increase in the pace of arrests since the war on Gaza.

The controversy coincides with the Israeli Knesset adopting, in its first reading, a bill that allows the imposition of the death penalty on those Israel describes as "terrorists," another proposal put forward by Ben Gvir, which could potentially be applied to Palestinian prisoners convicted of carrying out attacks.

Itamar Ben Gvir, leader of the far-right "Otzma Yehudit" party, is known for his hardline positions towards Palestinians and his repeated calls for harsher penalties and stricter detention conditions, making him one of the most controversial ministers in Netanyahu's government both domestically and internationally.
