أكد مسؤول أمريكي أن المحادثات بين الولايات المتحدة وإيران، المقرر أن تستضيفها سلطنة عمان، ستعقد في موعدها يوم الجمعة.
وقال المسؤول إن واشنطن أعادت جدول الاجتماع مع إيران في مسقط يوم الجمعة بعد ضغوط من قادة عرب ومسلمين على إدارة ترمب لتجنب الانسحاب من المحادثات.
وكان موقع «أكسيوس» قد نقل أيضاً عن مسؤولين أمريكيين، أن خطط إجراء المحادثات النووية الأمريكية الإيرانية في عمان يوم الجمعة قد أعيدت، بعد أن ضغط عدد من القادة العرب والمسلمين بشكل عاجل على إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، بعد ظهر الأربعاء، لحثها على عدم تنفيذ تهديداتها بالانسحاب.
وقال أحد المسؤولين: «طلبوا منا الإبقاء على الاجتماع والاستماع إلى ما سيقوله الإيرانيون. وقد أبلغناهم أننا سنعقد الاجتماع إذا أصروا، لكننا متشككون للغاية».
An American official confirmed that the talks between the United States and Iran, scheduled to be hosted by Oman, will take place as planned on Friday.
The official stated that Washington has rescheduled the meeting with Iran in Muscat for Friday after pressure from Arab and Muslim leaders on the Trump administration to avoid withdrawing from the talks.
The website "Axios" also reported that American officials indicated that plans for the U.S.-Iran nuclear talks in Oman on Friday have been reinstated, after several Arab and Muslim leaders urgently pressured President Donald Trump's administration on Wednesday afternoon to encourage it not to carry out its threats to withdraw.
One of the officials said: "They asked us to keep the meeting and listen to what the Iranians will say. We informed them that we would hold the meeting if they insisted, but we are very skeptical."
