قُتل 12 شخصاً وأُصيب 5 آخرون بجروح خطيرة، أمس (الأربعاء) في هجوم مُسلح على موقع تعدين في نيجيريا، حسبما أفادت وسائل إعلام محلية.
وهاجم المسلحون موقع تعدين في قرية أتوسو (أو راتوسو) بولاية بلاتو المضطربة في نيجيريا، ما أسفر عن مقتل ما لا يقل عن 12 شخصاً، وخطف ثلاثة آخرين، وإصابة خمسة بجروح خطيرة نقلوا إثرها إلى المستشفى.
وقال رئيس جمعية شباب بيروم، داليوب سليمان موانتيري، إن المهاجمين، الذين حددهم السكان المحليون كميليشيات فولاني مسلحة، اقتحموا الموقع مساء الثلاثاء، وأطلقوا النار عشوائياً على العمال الذين كانوا يمارسون أنشطة التعدين الحرفي.
التحقيقات جارية
وأكد المتحدث باسم شرطة الولاية، ألفريد ألابو، أن التحقيقات جارية في الحادث، دون تقديم تفاصيل إضافية فورية.
ويأتي هذا الهجوم ليبرز استمرار حالة انعدام الأمن في ولاية بلاتو، التي تعد نقطة ساخنة في منطقة الوسط النيجيري، حيث يغذي الصراع العرقي والديني منذ سنوات اشتباكات دامية بين المزارعين والرعاة.
ورغم الوعود المتكررة من الحكومة باستعادة السلام، إلا أن موجات العنف تتواصل وتتصاعد.
وأشار موانتيري إلى أن الهجوم وقع بعد أيام قليلة فقط من مقتل أربعة أطفال في قرية مجاورة، متهماً السلطات بتجاهل التحذيرات المبكرة من هجمات محتملة.
دعوات لنشر المزيد من القوات الأمنية
ودعت الجمعية الحكومة إلى نشر المزيد من القوات الأمنية لتنفيذ حظر الرعي المفتوح، وإنقاذ المختطفين، ووضع حد لهذه الدوامة من العنف.
يُذكر أن ولاية بلاتو شهدت عشرات الهجمات المماثلة خلال 2025، مع آلاف القتلى والنازحين في السنوات الأخيرة، وسط اتهامات متبادلة بين مجتمعات المزارعين والرعاة الفولاني، في نزاع يتعلق أساساً بالأرض والموارد، مع عوامل إضافية مثل التغير المناخي وانتشار السلاح.
12 people were killed and 5 others were seriously injured yesterday (Wednesday) in an armed attack on a mining site in Nigeria, local media reported.
The assailants attacked a mining site in the village of Atoso (or Ratoso) in the troubled Plateau State of Nigeria, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people, the kidnapping of three others, and the serious injury of five who were subsequently taken to the hospital.
The president of the Berom Youth Association, Dalyop Suleiman Mwantiery, stated that the attackers, identified by local residents as armed Fulani militias, stormed the site on Tuesday evening and opened fire indiscriminately on the workers who were engaged in artisanal mining activities.
Investigations Ongoing
The state police spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, confirmed that investigations are ongoing into the incident, without providing immediate additional details.
This attack highlights the ongoing insecurity in Plateau State, which is a hotspot in central Nigeria, where ethnic and religious conflict has fueled bloody clashes between farmers and herders for years.
Despite repeated government promises to restore peace, waves of violence continue and escalate.
Mwantiery pointed out that the attack occurred just a few days after the killing of four children in a neighboring village, accusing the authorities of ignoring early warnings of potential attacks.
Calls for More Security Forces Deployment
The association urged the government to deploy more security forces to enforce the open grazing ban, rescue the kidnapped individuals, and put an end to this cycle of violence.
It is worth noting that Plateau State has witnessed dozens of similar attacks during 2025, with thousands of deaths and displaced individuals in recent years, amid mutual accusations between farming and Fulani herding communities, in a conflict primarily concerning land and resources, with additional factors such as climate change and the proliferation of weapons.
